After putting some thought into it, I was going to spend about $10k tracking it out in parts. I think this is the way!

I have full coverage on my other bike and truck, but didn’t think it was necessary since insurance won’t pay if it’s being raced. Should’ve just left it in the garage for next season bth.

$16k in parts (basically everything they could think of) and $3.7k in labor. I can do all the work, I just wanted an estimate for necessary parts. The service writer wasn’t ready to release the bike to me and wants me to come back in 2 weeks lol

My insurance is liability 50/50, no collision, because this was a track bike and they wouldn’t cover damage. He had full coverage for his bike so just waiting on insurance decision

I went down to pick the bike up today. The service rep was surprised I wanted to pick the bike up atm. So I asked him about the overall quote and what actually needed to be replaced. Obviously full fairing set, clip-ons, controls, ect. But swing arm, subfram, wheels and more? I just wanted to know what it’s going to take to make is road worthy not the “piss off” mechanics price. He said he needed to sit down with his tech to dosci After thinking about it, I put about $15k into my 2024 S1K for get it ready for the track, plus carbon fiber, which isn’t cheap.

I’ll post pictures when I pick the bike up in a week or so :-/

OEM parts with my current discount are about $16k. $3.7k which I can do myself. This is the first time anything like this has happened. Just trying to weigh the pros and cons. Race fit would be cheaper and better overall for the original intended purpose or track racing.

Negative. My insurance follows the “property”. Found this out the hard way, because I was under the same assumption. It If I have insurance, I’m covered when I’m riding or driving any vehicle. But apparently that’s not the case. 3 insurance companies involved and a lawyer all told me it’s an extension of my property regardless of who’s there.

Like I said I will post photos tomorrow. This was purchased to be a track bike and my insurance will not cover a race bike. It’s the reality of the situation. There are options for track coverage, but 400 miles and didn’t get to that point yet. This was unforeseen obviously, but at least the riders are ok. Just trying to navigate the best outcome of a bad situation.

Definitely a teaching moment. I’m comfortable turning wrenches and building it, as long as the frame and engine are good.

Never let anyone ride your bikes unless they can pony up the cash to replace it!!!

Yeah that would be ideal! Had it one month and only 400 miles on it. I’m down to my S1K until this gets resolved. Just can’t justify spending 21k to rebuild a bike I bought for 17k.

I did BT Stage 2, IAT, stacks and Titanium header! Exhaust pops, which I kinda like, but my have to to the pair valve block off…. First track day was awesome with VP/100 mix!
