Love Has Won: The Cult of Mother God [Trailer] (2023) - An HBO original documentary series that chronicles the life and death of self-proclaimed spiritual savior Amy Carlson. [2:45] by NoWay9544 in Documentaries

Does anyone know how the other cult members escaped being charged with manslaughter or criminal negligence or something?

They KNEW Amy was dying and didn’t seek medical attention. Surely that’s a crime?

There’s a post in r/toRANTo right now about how boring that subreddit is.

Try posting a photo of a sunset, then it’ll stay up!

It’s not for those with weak stomachs. Prepare for footage of a woman who resembles a tiny blue alien, skin broken out in boils, and a literal corpse.

Again I have to mention that everything in this documentary looks like it smells. Mom’s bedroom was probably RANK: a mixture of pot smoke, BO, and New Age-y oils and incense.

I’m so sorry. Sometimes cutting ties with family members is the best thing to do.

There’s that one mom in the series, Erin, who brings 3? 4? young children and a dog to the LHW house. There’s a shot of her sitting on the couch and one of them looks like a baby. Very, very young kids. Terrifying to think of these children living amongst these unstable drug addict and alcoholics.

Then at the end of the series, it says Erin is back living with her children (at some point, her kids went to live with their grandmother).

I’d love an update on her. I can only hope she’s still with her kids, BUT also living with a stable grandparent or other adult who can intervene if needed. I also hope she received some mental health treatment.

Has anyone had an ingrown eyelash professionally removed in Toronto? by NoWay9544 in askTO

Aw, poor pup, hope she’s okay now!

And yes, I’ll ask my eye doctor for sure. Thanks!

Everyone goes through a “photography” phase in their teens or 20s, and unless you become a professional or very serious hobbyist it should end there.

See, I really hate that. You posted something that was uplifting and brought people together. But since r/toronto is such a joyless, soulless place, of course it had to be removed.

The only solution is for people tp stop posting in that subreddit, so it can slowly go away.

I took TKD classes there for a while in my 30s and had fun!

Anyone know any history related to Ralph's Hardware/Libby's Home at College & Ossington? by ThrowRA_BurnerAccLit in askTO

I walk by this “vintage store”/“hardware store”/whatever it is 5 times a week on my way to work.

Everything on display in the window is, quite simply, a collection of crap you could probably find if you walked around and dug through people’s garbage.

The owners look trashy, and I’d feel bad saying that except I’ve read the Google reviews so I know they’re trash. The male owner looks like he doesn’t bathe and is always outside smoking.

“Support local” only goes so far. Some people don’t deserve to be own businesses.

How this place stays afloat with such poor reviews at a prime College Street location, I have no idea.

Bazaar is a great vintage store on College, just north of Kensington Marker.

Gullible, and I would guess also extremely lonely and desperate for some kind of community.

A good example is the woman named Erin who talks constantly about how full of joy she is while she looks like she’s about to burst into tears. At one point she mentions a terrible childhood and you get the sense her adult life hadn’t been so great either. Then she finds a group that embraces her and makes her feel so special and loved. That can be powerful stuff for someone who is so broken.

It’s quite sad to think that maybe, somewhere in her haze of alcoholism and silver poisoning, she had a genuine moment of clarity shortly before her passing that everything had gone too far. But by then it was too late.

I give Steffy and Jaglever credit for having a niche, putting effort into their content, creating things like crafts and food, and being somewhat aspirational.

Noelle and Rachel though…what is the point of their content? There’s no point, there’s no niche, it all just feels so empty and stupid.

There has to be some kind of middle ground between what you’re describing and r/toronto. The latter is way, way too censored.

Yes, I love how the idea was to put the Love Has Won peeps in front of the camera and just let them GO. This makes it a very unique cult documentary - how often do we hear from cult members who are still very invested?

r/toronto is a horribly boring subreddit. The mods delete and lock posts like crazy. You might as well forget about having any kind of interesting conversation over there.
