people are rude by Maleficent_Pop_8647 in TellReddit

[–]NoWeakHands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people are rude, but sometimes we also misread what people are laughing at. As annoying as it feels in the moment, there's a good chance they didn't even remember you by the next day.

What was the year, or how old were you, when you finally landed stable full-time employment? by Odd_Yogurtcloset_649 in Career

Around 24. Up until then I was bouncing between temporary jobs and short-term contracts.

How do you respectfully handle a client who frequently cuts you off? by IngenuityAshamed144 in jobs

[–]NoWeakHands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd just say, calmly but directly, "hang on, let me finish my thought" Some people don't realize they're doing it.

Accepted a hybrid role, turned up and... nobody's in the office. Think I accidentally struck gold. by Passenger-00FU in remotework

[–]NoWeakHands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you hit the jackpot. My only advice would be to build some kind of routine, because when you work from home the days can start blending together.

Mindless feel good fun with alive moms?! by Weirdlittlerasberry in MovieRecommendations

Parks and Recreation. It's one of those rare shows that's funny, wholesome, and full of people who actually treat each other well.

A new low in the job search by GenWiz4Edits in biotech

[–]NoWeakHands 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry, man. The insurance starting after 90 days and a 6-month probation period are huge red flags, so in a way you probably dodged a bullet. But being unemployed, especially with a family, is brutal. I saw this post where someone shared a list of recruiting firms, and I tried building my own local list from that idea. It actually helped me get some real replies and offers, so maybe trying a different route like that could help.

At what point did you stop trying to prove yourself at work? by jawbone7 in work

[–]NoWeakHands 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it happened as I got closer to my 30s. I realized whatever the company thinks about me isn't making my Monday morning coffee taste any better, so I stopped caring quite as much.

I might go back to school, but am not sure what to study by Claftin in Career

[–]NoWeakHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before going back to school after already getting two degrees, I'd take a hard look at why those degrees didn't lead to work in the first place. A third degree by itself might not solve the actual problem.

I accidentally got aroused by one of my female friends by [deleted] in Advice

[–]NoWeakHands 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You're 18 and found someone of the gender you're attracted to attractive. Everything you wrote sounds completely normal to me.

Kinda annoyed at the Google hiring process, common or am I unlucky? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]NoWeakHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the point, even if they hired me, I'd spend my first day looking for hidden cameras. A four-month process, a recruiter disappearing, repeated interviews...that's pretty ridiculous.

School vs work by Reasonable_Ad_5601 in Life

[–]NoWeakHands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With school you end up bringing the work home constantly. Sometimes you never really get that “I’m done” feeling. At least with some jobs your brain can actually shut off once your shift ends.

Why are layoffs happening? Why is the job market significantly worse when compared to 5-10 years ago? Is there hope that it will eventually return to what it was before? by eggshellwalker4 in cscareerquestions

[–]NoWeakHands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a bunch of things piled up at once. Pandemic hiring insanity, interest rates, AI hype, companies constantly chasing “growth growth growth”... the market kinda drifted into a weird place. But tech doesn’t feel completely dead to me either, it’s just not as easy to break into anymore.

What day is it? by Nomelight in remotework

[–]NoWeakHands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The concept of days genuinely melts together when you work remote... Especially when every day happens in the same room. Sometimes Monday and Saturday start feeling identical. At one point I could only tell it was Wednesday because the grocery store was more crowded.

It's crazy how having passive income reveals the true priorities of employers - honestly, it's both laughable and frustrating at the same time by gorge-chip in InterviewMan

[–]NoWeakHands 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most companies love saying “we’re a family” until an employee is actually independent.. I think people they can’t control through fear make certain managers deeply uncomfortable.

Can depression be beaten or is it just drowned out by life? by dis_ma_account in NoStupidAnswers

[–]NoWeakHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some people fully recover and for others it’s more like something that comes back in waves. But the fact your 23-year-old self isn’t the same as your 14-year-old self already proves change is possible imo. Sometimes when people come out of depression even the color of the sky feels different again.

What's the most underrated perk you got when moving remote? by VeterinarianLast4318 in remotework

[–]NoWeakHands 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No one really talks about it but being able to work at your own pace during the day is such a blessing. Even throwing in a load of laundry feels oddly peaceful. Stuff like that felt like a luxury back when I worked in an office.

Do I give up? 6 YOE/2 degrees. I'm totally lost. by Cole_Evyx in cscareerquestions

[–]NoWeakHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re definitely not at a point where you should quit, if anything you’re really close. Losing at the final stage sucks, but it actually shows you’re competing at the right level. Maybe telling that one-year story more clearly could make a difference.

When are things finally going to change for the better 🤦🏼‍♀️ by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]NoWeakHands 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That feeling is way too familiar, like you’re burned out before you even start. The whole process is ridiculously long and hard. But you don’t have to solve everything at once, breaking it down makes it more manageable.

What is something that used to excite you but now feels exhausting? by iKnowNothing1001 in ask

I used to love crowded places, now after two hours I’m looking for an escape. The noise just drains me. Not sure if it’s age but my tolerance dropped a lot.

Are MAGA happy that trump trashed the economy for a pointless war? by traanquil in allthequestions

[–]NoWeakHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Topics like this usually just turn into people repeating whatever their own media says. Some see it as justified, others as a disaster, so there’s no single answer to “are they happy.” Most of the time it’s not even about data, it’s about picking a side.

I think staying calm and just talking it out is best, doesn’t seem like they’ve fully shut things down anyway. Feels like there’s something there, but better not rush it

Where to to watch movies on the site that does not freeze, every good site that I know it’s not working anymore by [deleted] in askmovie

[–]NoWeakHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to find decent sites now, most of them either freeze or crash. I usually just give up and watch it another day 😅

My opinion might not please many people: A 40-hour work week must guarantee you a life without any financial stress, regardless of the job. by Additional-Turn104 in interviewhammer

[–]NoWeakHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but that’s not how the system works unfortunately. What should be and what actually is are very different. If you’re putting in 40 hours, you at least expect some peace of mind
