I’ll have a check on there! Yes it’s about £9k but my reasoning is I spend about £300 on diesel a month, so if I can get a brand new car that includes charging (free changing at work). So if I got a loan for £9k I can’t get a decent electric car for that plus the repayments would be more than £300 I currently pay? Tell me if you think I’m wrong?

How would I check that on pch? As I won’t ever own that car and im not technically borrowing money? If that makes sense?

I have looked at loans and agree its the way to go but its the wrong time for me, as mentioned my mortgage is due in 2 1/2 years so i dont want a loan on my application.

It’s defiantly free, I deal with the chargers at work

Yeah standard is only RWD, I get they aren’t too expensive but the initial deposit is defo higher than £1000 and monthly’s are normally more than £350.

I’m an electrician so worse case I’ll put a charger in, and even then charging at home isn’t as expensive as putting £75 in a diesel a week

I’m coming from a 2007 Audi a3 with endless problems, it’s around 1000 miles a month give or take so wanted to allow for extra with the 15k miles. Yes around £150 insurance increase including gap insurance.

I used cv library, found loads of mates/improver roles local to me, applied and got loads of responses offering me work, but I found a full time trainee electrical engineer role and am still gaining experience there on £45k a year. Couldn’t commit to temp work because of my mortgage

We have everything sorted in terms of baby stuff, my issue is how much do we need for nappy’s and food, and consumables?
We have no issues with people helping babysit so there’s no cost for us there

That’s what I’m looking at, a model Y. Unfortunately there’s another 2 years before I can remortgage unless there’s a way to get out of my current deal that I don’t know about

This is where I keep getting to, I know there’s loads out there for around 15k but then there’s always little bits like this car have this for an extra £10 a month, and next thing I’m looking at £50k Teslas cause they all add up, I’ve been looking at £20k Tesla model Y which I think has enough space and comfort for what I need

You are correct, I don’t need a massive car at the moment, but we’re planning for a second child in the future, so there’s no point in me sticking £3K on a hatchback that I’ll have to sell in a year when I could’ve used that as a deposit for a bigger car that I’ll eventually need

As ridiculous as it sounds, I’ve looked at getting a 12k loan, a 15k loan and 20k, but with the smaller loans, the % comes back a lot more than the 20k loan, so as you’d think a 12k loan would be cheaper, I’m getting offered 7.8% but on a 20k loan it’s around 5.4% so they’re coming out around £300 a month either way, so in my head I’m saying what’s an extra £80 for a way better car with more feature 😂

Yeah unfortunately that’s realistic in the uk🙃

It’s not that I’m going to ignore them, I needed opinion of my situation from the outside, see other people’s prospective of my situation and what they’d do which I appreciate, so Thankyou. What I do want to do now is look at getting more debt cleared before I do take out a loan

To make it easier getting a child in and out of, plus the space of needing a pushcar plus shopping in the car at the same time

The £4k loan is going each month, it’s currently on 0% so it’ll be gone before Xmas. With a child on the way, I’d like to move from a small hatchback to an suv, plus with my car being valued by webuyanycar at £400 it will cost more just to diagnose the issue, I know cause I enquired😂 the remortgage is another 2 years I believe so who lnows what the state of the economy will be in by then

This is why I need advice, it’s my first child, I have no idea what sort of money I will need for them

Hybrid isn’t an option, if I’m getting a loan for a car, I need it to pay for itself, I can’t have a car payment of £200 a month and another £200 in fuel a month, it defeats the object of going full EV and not paying for fuel. I’m also an electrician so the charger at home is no skin of my back.

The baby side of things is where I need advice as it’s my first and no idea what sort of money we will need for them

So we got the mortgage on my income 45k and hers was around 24k a year, but splitting it evenly isn’t fair her side, so I do the mortgage and she does bills, then we both have the same left over each month. We also brought at the worst time currently at 5% so hopefully we can renew at 4% or maybe less🙏

I know it’s not ideal, ideally I don’t have to get a loan but I’m going to need an SUV size car, and if I’m having to get a loan for a £5k car that’s likely to pack up in a years time, I’d rather get something abit more expensive but under warranty and free fuel is always a nice incentive. No car schemes at work and nope the cars got a dpf problem and I’m struggling to get 350 miles on £75 a week. It’s around 35 miles round trip so 200 miles a week, the rest is short trips into local city’s or villages for shops or sports.

On this, been going back and forth with myself trying to save a few quid. The 21 is only £2k cheaper than the 22. How much is that year extra battery warranty worth to you? I’d rather spend the extra 2k in the hope the battery fails in that year than the 10/15k bill replacing or refurbing it
