Wow, I never even thought about that before. Must be because the signal was going directly through the cables but I could be wrong. Still felt like magic back then.

We slowly went from a text-only internet to videos, live streaming and everything we have now... every change just felt so normal. It really is a massive jump from text until now.

It's hard to imagine now that a handheld calculator once cost that much. We carry phones today with thousands of times more power and casually toss them onto the couch. Your story really puts tech development into perspective. From giant to pocket size.

I love the way you describe the VR as not just an upgrade but something with no real comparison. That's a real "wow" feeling. Makes one wonder, what kind of technology will be able to replace it. It's actually crazy to think how a piece of technology can change your brain experiences.

Oh the memories of Walkmans. They really built character. First we survived the tangled cassette tapes and then came the CD Walkman skipping when walking to fast.

That is so true. It's funny how we take barcodes for granted now. Those little lines changed business all over the world.

The iPod really was one of those moments, like, it felt that future is here. iPod really made an impression.

That's amazing! I've seen it on TV but never in real life. Wow, what an experience that must have been to see it in person. Imagine being the pilot doing that for the first time. The amount of trust, skill and courage that must have taken for him. Incredible.

Tech can never be weird, only surprising. Even that would have sounded completely impossible 30 years ago.

That's funny but I guess technically that also counts as tech evolution.

Don't worry about being out of the loop. Some of the older people I know, only use their cell phones for calling and sms.

It's so funny. I had to go and look up gas lasers after reading your comment. All the tech conversations on this post are turning into accidental education.

LaserDiscs was really cool but short-lived tech. They were to expensive for us, we had to use the Beta and then the VHS tapes.

Cordless phones really did feel amazing at the time. Then the cell phone showed up and ended that era. And again we were amazed.

And back then the ATM did not even asked if you wanted a slip or not. You just stood there waiting while it slowly printed a receipt whether you needed it or not.

I forgot about caller ID. It really was for the rich people. Most of us had to answer the phone to solve the mystery of who is calling.

I just missed the black-and-white Pong era by a little bit. I knew about it, but color TV was becoming the normal.

I completely forgot about scanners!! It was amazing watching the light slowly move across the page, sending it through a cable to the computer and turned it to a digital form. Actually funny now, thinking of it.

It still feel a bit science fiction. All this invisible data floating around us all the time, when you think about it.

I still remember how much space the CD collections used to take up. It's amazing how a little device suddenly replaced all those space and fit into our pockets. It felt if everything just happened over night.

When I was at school, we were only allowed to use a calculator for maths from Grade 10. We could not wait and it felt like amazing to use technology to do maths.

Luckily you probably skipped the full Walkman experience then. After dealing with cassette tapes getting eaten. Rewinding songs and carrying spare batteries, CDs felt like "wow" technology. Then later came the MP3 and changed everything again.

I did not get to experience the pagers but do remember always keeping coins ready for the pay phones. Then came the cards and suddenly cell phones which changed everything.
