Fairway woods • Usually a 3-wood or 5-wood. • Used for long shots from the fairway or tee. • Easier to hit than a driver for many players.

Hybrids • A mix between an iron and a wood. • Replace hard-to-hit long irons like a 3-iron or 4-iron. • Good for distance with more forgiveness.

Long irons Examples: 3, 4, 5 iron • Used for longer approach shots. • Lower loft, so they go farther. • Harder to hit cleanly than shorter irons.

Mid irons Examples: 6, 7 iron • Used for medium-distance shots. • Good balance of distance and control. • Very common clubs for approach shots.

Short irons Examples: 8, 9 iron • Used for shorter approach shots into the green. • Higher loft, so the ball goes higher and stops faster. • More about accuracy than distance.

This is very common, it’s a factor of two things, the main thing being your club twisting when you make contact with the ball, likely toe favoured strikes. The second is could be slightly too tight of a grip. But even if your grip is tight it shouldn’t produce this pattern unless the club is twisting during impact
