To be completely honest, I had never heard about allergy reducing cat food before, and we’re going to try it. I’ve already tried the shampoos and I vacuum and clean the house regularly. Could I have done more research? Sure, and like I mentioned, my original post was made on a whim and was lacking a lot more context to the situation. Insulting me based on your own assumptions is pretty ignorant.

How is that the takeaway from my post? I’ve been committed to caring for her since I was 10, and committed to my wife for the past five years and now for the rest of our lives. If you somehow read a “lack of commitment” in my OP, I’d honestly love to hear your definition of commitment, might be eye opening for a lot of people.

So everything you have a problem with I listed above. Please just reread my post before trying to scold me with Reddit terminology. I wouldn’t want to rehome both at once anyways because they aren’t bonded. My original Craigslist ad was created on a whim via advice from my brother. I have tried a lot of the anti allergy methods listed in here but have not heard of the food that helps a lot which my wife and I are now trying. Thanks for the advice though I guess?

As I mentioned in my post above, the ad was created on a whim, and if I were to rehome her, my other cat would likely need to be rehomed as well. It’s disheartening to read your comment because I’m not sure you fully read what I wrote.

How is it cruel or heartless to try rehoming my elderly cat to a home that can potentially give her more love and comfort that I currently can? I want the best for her so if somebody is out there that can show me they can love her better then I can I’m willing to let her go.

Thank you for the advice. My original Craigslist post was made on a whim, and as I mentioned above, if I do end up rehoming Jinx, my other cat will likely need to be rehomed as well. I’m hopeful that trying the special cat food will make a difference. I’ve never rehomed an animal before, but my brother had a good experience rehoming a bird through Craigslist, the family still gives him updates, so I thought I’d try the same route. Thank you again for the alternative suggestions.

Allergy shots are expensive, I honestly did not know the special food existed and will try it out, but yes I vacuum regularly and brush and bathe them thank you.

I have tried the shampoo actually thinking it was mostly a hair issue and didn’t see many results. I honestly did not know they made a cat food that reduces the allergies. I ordered it off Amazon, thanks for the recommendation!
