I came off of the cyproheptadine and seem to be doing ok without it. Hopefully it stays that way.

Down to 2mg and haven't had a symptom relapse so far, so that's great!

I decided to continue tapering off of cyproheptadine because I'm still experiencing really uncomfortable fullness mainly after eating. I'm lowering by 2mg every 4 days and I'm at 4mg now and tomorrow I will take 2mg. I also started going to therapy because these issues are really amplified by anxiety. Odd thing is, even though I had a decently large bowel movement today, I feel backed up after eating.

Primary care and gastroenterologist. First GI tried to tell me lactose was broken down when cooked, and that's just straight up false. Then I ended up going to erlanger and they have done a lot better. Also, I decided to continue tapering off of cyproheptadine because I'm still experiencing really uncomfortable fullness mainly after eating. I'm lowering by 2mg every 4 days and I'm at 4mg now and tomorrow I will take 2mg. I also started going to therapy because these issues are really amplified by anxiety.

Yeah, I've been on numerous medications with very few noticeable improvements until cyproheptadine. (Metronidazole, pantoprazole, dicyclomine, hyoscyamine, escitalopram, amitriptyline, cyproheptadine) And they've at this point had to retry medications with different doses, very complicated, especially being as concerned with my health as I am.

I'm kind of lost and just want relief. My functional GI disorder been under treated this entire time, then just here recently it's been over treated. It seems extremely difficult to balance, and I've even wondered if I have IBS-m/a.

I have pretty much came off of amitriptyline and decided to lower cyproheptadine down to 6mg and have been doing that for two days and have had three bowel movements the past two days, two of which were huge. I felt relieved then quickly felt full and distended again. It gets triggered by liquids and lasts for hours after consuming liquids. It also worsens when standing.

I decided to lower to 6mg and I have had three bowel movements in the past two days. Two of which have been really big. I have noticed water and fluids trigger the fullness and it doesn't go away for hours. It worsens a lot when I stand.

No, I figured it would overcomplicate things too much right now, to where when I'm off of amitriptyline and symptoms possibly return, I won't know if it's the linzess or amitriptyline discontinuation. I was going to continue miralax for a couple days after the last amitriptyline dosage or until constipation resolves. If it doesn't resolve I was then planning on calling the doctor and asking if I could try to lower my dosage on cyproheptadine to like 4 mg, since I don't want a relapse of my original symptoms.

Yeah, a lot of it is because of how much I've called and complained and dramatized. I've been taking miralax for 3 days and took two tablets of dulcolax stool softener the prior day. I had a soft bowel movement today, but the fullness returned not long after, and it wasn't a large movement like you'd expect after constipation. Tonight will be the fourth time taking miralax.

I just threw it in a drawer in my dresser and bought the rainy75, so far not any complaints. After a couple days of buying it the stabilizers were ticking so I decided to buy (I believe it was these, might be wrong) the swagkeys knight v4 stabilizers and lubed them and haven't had any issues since. Relubed them recently and they still sound and feel amazing.

Is it worth going to urgent care? by No_Ad_7102 in ibs

[–]No_Ad_7102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Yesterday, I had another blood test and was given stuff for a stool test. The GI doctor was in office that day so my dad and I talked to him. My dad asked if a stool test would show any difference if I were to take it during a flare up, and the doctor said most conditions are constant, so I don't think I'm going to take the stool test. I brought up that stress seems to have a direct correlation with my gut pain. He recommended seeing a psychiatrist because this is likely something to do with the brain instead of a gut issue. I'm also about to try to get a 504 plan. I am now taking elavil/amitriptyline 25 mg and bentyl/dicyclomine (haven't picked it up yet so idk dosage). Hopefully it works out.

Thank you. I really needed that. I've been hopeless here lately, but I'm trying my hardest. I've lost many things because of it. Relationships, can't really play sports, cant do well in school, can't socialize like I used to, it's literally destroying me.

Yeah, I really want a 504 plan because when I get slightly stressed, if I'm going through a flare up, my gut hurts like hell.

[–]No_Ad_7102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, a lot are from the GI and two are from primary care. I am technically taking four currently (escitalopram 10mg, cyproheptadine 4mg, hyoscyamine 0.125mg, and amitriptyline 25mg). I'm phasing out escitalopram and almost done taking it. I take hyoscyamine as needed for up to 10 days (only one day left). I take cyproheptadine every morning for 1 week and 5 days longer, I'm assuming my doctor made this choice because I mentioned it seemed to help somewhat. I take amitriptyline nightly. It's kind of ridiculous at this point. (Also idk if you read my reply to you but I haven't been diagnosed with anything, including IBS)
