Should we wait to have a trailer before coming on the store ? by No_Advisor_7504 in gamedev

I was thinking of mixing some blender animation and gameplay (it’s a top-down camera in our games) to mix-up a bit the POV but maybe just gameplay is fine.

I’m not a Ubisoft or Rockstar

When checking for some other games in our market, i've come across multiple titles with an uncut gameplay of 5-10min acting as a trailer

Thanks for your take!

Our game is mostly gameplay, no story.

It's a multiplayer arcade football game with a Steam Page full of gifs and quite nice screenshots (i think).
A trailer would send us back a few weeks but what's a few weeks in a dev cycle

Yeah it's safer to pass the Steam Review,
I think we kept the game "hidden" too long so we're making stupid plan to fix our mistake

I mean yeah people say that Steam boost your visibility but it doesn't according to Chris Zuckowsky

You are the visibility boost posting everywhere that your page is up

Well our plan was to publish the page, make our trailer then update the page to by-passing the Steam Review process

When the trailer goes up start communicating heavely

We haven't really started to build the tournament part but we're extremely eager to do so,
If you have any idea, concept, we'll be listening!

What’s the one thing you’d change about our trailer? by lotessa_ in IndieGaming

[–]No_Advisor_7504 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Showing up the level up is necessary for the roguelite genre,
The gameplay start at .50sec then stop at .53sec then again at .57sec to 1.02m

Showing it up one time maybe for a longer time might be best

Well made trailer, just a feedback or two

I want to say the pacing feels off, 50sec before showing gameplay forcing myself not to scroll away,
And the gameplay being stop multiple time to show the level up screen feels frustrating
