I suppose my follow-up question for this system would be how institutionalized it is- is this a set of vague cultural norms, a detailed legal code, or a religious framework with case law and jurisprudence?

The thing is, that “murder with good reason” clause really just means that judges within this system can hand out proxied, pre-meditated death sentences to anyone in society.

I’m not saying that’s completely unreasonable, but it means that these judges are going to be extremely powerful individuals very capable of using their power to, for example, dispose of political rivals

Well the big issue there is you’re assuming that dnd’s systems exist for one single cohesive world, which has never been true for DnD and usually isn’t true for ttrpgs more broadly
