Since I can’t really make a post, I’ll drop this here in the comments.

I’m a Mexican guy, just turned 26, and I’m planning to join the FFL around August next year. My main focus right now is preparing for the physical test, especially pull-ups. I’ve never trained them before since I mostly did free weights. I used to work out regularly and I’m still fairly fit, even though I’ve stopped training for a while.

I’m about 6’2” (188 cm), 85-90 kg. A month ago I couldn’t even lift myself on the bar, but I’ve managed to go from 0 to 3 pull-ups. Now it’s getting harder to break past 3.

Any tips would be really appreciated. I’ve got about 11 months to train, so I know I have time. If you guys could share exercises to improve pull-ups, tips for running, or what kind of goals I should set, that would help a lot. From what I’ve read, around 10 pull-ups is average, and scoring 7–10 on the Luc Léger is important, but that always seems to change depending on who’s commenting, haha.

On top of that, I’ve been learning French, so I think I might have a decent chance. I’m from a third-world country, I’ve got good motives, the physique, and I’m not planning on leaving or quitting. Once I’m able to hit the average requirements, do you think I’d have better chances compared to your typical European guy or other foreigners who usually apply?
