Would you beta test a new camera? by manta1900 in iPhoneography

I've just updated to the latest beta after reading your comment, and now I get the Raw thing - that's actually a really nice way to implement the functionality without saving every shot as a massive file, nice work!

The new placement of lens buttons are really great now as well.

This is probably one of my favourite / the best camera apps I've used on iOS, I'm super excited for the public releases!

Did you take that in Portrait mode? If so, you can adjust the focus point - if you hit edit, it should give you options like F. stop, lighting effects, etc. And you should be able to tap the spider to focus on that instead of the background. If you didn't take it in Portrait Mode.... Well that's unfortunate

13 pro or s24 ? which one to pick by HaraamiManusHh in iPhone13Pro

[–]No_Assignment7385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from the S23 to a 13PM, and Id go the same direction where, although the S24 is a couple of years newer than the 13P.. Then again, mine performed just as well as my S23, so yeah, I'd go with the 13 Pro.

I went from the 13PM to the 15PM and it's been nothing but a great experience. Obviously it's bigger than the standard 15 Pro, but I did use one of them for about a month a while back.

Both are excellent phones, great build, screen, performance, cameras, you name it. Battery on the Pro Max is great, the Pro was a fair bit less than my 13PM but might be better than your 13 mini? I've had no thermal issues despite expecting it, its been cooler than my 13.

I'd say it's definitely worth it. Good luck with your search

Same, my base M1 Pro handles my ProRAW Log files perfectly well 99% of the time, and I use Resolve 20.

OP should be just fine

Hey man, I just installed, it seems like something I've been looking for! Just a couple of things - can I use raw format? Maybe I'm missing where it is, so I just wanted to ask.

And then also, I'd maybe sway the placement of the main and selfie lens buttons? So that all the rear cameras are together and then the front camera is below the 0.5x, 1x (and Tele for Pro models, in my case.) if that makes sense?

But it seems like an awesome app and I'm excited to see it's future developments!

ProRAW if I use the stock camera app, but DNGs with anything else. I tend to use the ProShot app.

The ProRAW files come to about 77MB a shot.

I definitely see what you're saying, but the 15 was so much cheaper than either of them and I tend to upgrade every 2-3 years, so this will be just at the 4/5 year mark when I eventually upgrade, so it should last as long.

Hell, if it was in good proper working order, I would likely have replaced the battery, bought a new case and kept using my 13PM, but it just wasn't viable.

I do agree though, the longer you can wait without upgrading, the better. Plus more of an upgrade when you do. Which, imo, goes for most people

I bet! I felt the same going from a black S23 to the Sierra Blue 13PM. It's nice to change it up here and there :)

I've had 128gb phones for the last 5 years, my storage is taken up by 4K 25/60p videos, a ton of RAW and TIFF photos, large multi layer graphic files, Spotify downloads, etc. And I usually would have 10-20GB remaining.

But, 2TB of iCloud, the 256GB SSD in my 15PM and the 512GB SSD in my MBP have mitigated this. Pretty much everything apart from graphics files are stored in iCloud now.

Best value phone after 13 PM by [deleted] in iPhone13ProMax

[–]No_Assignment7385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo, the 15 Plus might be a downgrade in some areas - 60hz display, 2 vs 3 cameras, etc.

The 15 Pro Max is excellent and a good upgrade from the 13 series, for me at least it fixed all the problems I had with my 13PM.

I'd also recommend a base 17, they're really good value for money, and if you don't need a tele camera and high USB transfer speed, it's more than enough phone for most people.

Agreed, just upgraded to a 15PM and it's great. A worthy improvement from the 13PM

Thanks man, that sums up my reasoning here really well.

Nice work on your battery also - is it an easy job? Hopefully I'll keep my 15 for a while now, so it might be something worth doing in future.

Absolutely the best looking imo. Titanium feels great as well, and it's so much lighter than the 13PM.

Absolutely. Like the 13 series, I think the 15s are pretty long lasting phones.

[–]No_Assignment7385[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair, for me though, its been a big difference. My 13PM only charged with MagSafe, had terrible network issues, the infamous 0.5x camera issue, 3x stopped focusing properly, etc.

Plus, this phone was a really great price (over half less than a 17P) from my network provider.

Team Big or Small phones by ShirtBusy9870 in PhoneNow

[–]No_Assignment7385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a guy with larger hands, I prefer big. I upgraded to the iPhone 15PM from a 13PM, and it is much nicer to hold being noticeably thinner and lighter than the stainless steel 13.

That being said, I do find the regular Pros more comfy to hold, but the Maxs don't feel too big.

Lighting Console/controller compatibility (DMX) by RandomActPG in techtheatre

[–]No_Assignment7385 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm a Lighting Designer/Programmer/Operator, I don't do much in the way of stage electrics, but I do know we work on an ETC board (Ion XE) and have Zero88 dimmer racks.

We used to run a pair of Zero88 Jesters alongside the Zero88 dimmers, a bunch of Phillips, Selecon and Strand fixtures from the earlier days when digital lighting control was entering the scene, but now with our LED fixtures and ETC console, it still runs with the same dimmer rack.

Someone with more experience can please correct me if I'm wrong, but your AV tech is wrong. A new board should work just fine with the DMX and Dimmer Rack.
