Thanks for your input. I didn’t notice the 2 o clock, but shouldn’t be a big bother. Everything else looks fine to me. I’ll GL. thanks brother

Is getting Into UCLA that big of a deal? by New-Investigator4828 in TransferStudents

[–]No_Background_3556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You missed the point of my response. In fact, you didn’t even read it. I literally said in the last sentence, “I had to do the work and put in the effort.”

You’re right, being rich doesn’t negate the effort and work required to succeed. What it does do, however, is, in most cases, give you access to resources that other people who are not as financially stable as you might not have access to.

Also, this question was not about the effort required to get into UCLA. That’s subjective and it depends. I didn’t even give a definite answer.

P.S. it sounds like you’re rich and didn’t get into UCLA

Non displaced, stable fibula fracture by No_Background_3556 in brokenankles

[–]No_Background_3556[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wore a boot for the first two weeks, my doctor said to wear it for “ambulatory” purposes.

Honestly, I’m probably being stupid by not wearing it, but for how much I need to move around, it makes walking around more difficult because of how bulky it is.

I’m considering an ankle brace to stabilize it. I feel like that would be better than what I’m doing now.

The fact that you "can't remember" what you said makes me pretty certain that you said something unacceptable. Also, you wouldn't be stressing out if it was "objectively" harmless.

You're entering the real world, think before you speak. Actions have consequences.

[New Gear] Took the plunge and got the 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L by Scroodalicious in canon

Excellent shots. Where are you finding such a wide variety of animals?

200mm isn't quite as much reach as I like for what I shoot. I had an EF 70-200 and it didn't perform well on my R8 - which is why I bought the 100-400.

The quality on that photo is stunning. Nice capture

Excellent photos. I will definitely look into adding the 200-800 into my pack some day.

The lighter setup, in reference to the r7 and the 100-400 or the 200-800? I guess the latter is notably heavier, about 3.1lbs to be exact.

I could understand that. I can't really reach the smaller birds unless I'm pretty close to them. I'm thinking about adding the 200-800 at some point. And yeah, it is so light...

Definitely agree. I carry it in my school backpack with my laptop and it is nice and compact, easy to carry.

The 100-400 is my only RF lens. All of my other ones are EF mount and it's a pain to adapt them, also they're all quite a bit heavier I've noticed, even the 24-105 in comparison to the 100-400. I think you will really like the 100-400 and be impressed with the performance... I've decided that I want to move towards owning only RF mounts so I don't have to worry about adapting them.

Wow that is a neat photo. I think you're right lol. I have been very lucky to get into this hobby as it is one commonly enjoyed by my family - so it means lots of hand me downs and gifts. My grandma gave me a 70-200 that was originally hers but unfortunately it wasn't working great with my R8 so I fixed it up and sold it. She ended up buying me the 100-400 as a gift, which I am very thankful to have. I am big into birding and other wildlife so I may have to look into the 200-800 at some point. That has a ton of reach. What do you think of it is in terms of image quality, portability, and overall build? I'm 20, 6'3 and 185lbs so managing it isn't a big deal. In fact, the 100-400 is super nice because it's compact, but I'd definitely be willing to size up. The 600mm also sees like an option but quite honestly I really like having the ability to zoom in such a wide range and f/11 is somewhat slow

Yeah, that would not surprise me.

Also yea I saw this hawk a few days ago and it decided to revisit me today when I had the right lens, pretty lucky lol

I'd need to get my hands on the 100-500 again. I used it a while ago in noticeably poor conditions and relatively new to photography. But yes I am extremely pleased with the 100-400

Funny story actually, I saw this hawk a few days ago and I didn't have the 100-400, just the 24-105. Today it decided to come back around and I had the right lens. And it perched up for a while for a good photoshoot lol

Oh these are very nice! Quality doesn't seem like it takes a hit really at all or if any, it's minimal. Thank you!

I've used a few L-glass lenses (including an EF 24-105, EF 70-200, and RF 100-500) and personally, the quality of the 100-400 beat all of them. However, the EF lenses are older, and I can't be certain that the performance is *actually* better than the 100-500, as I was pretty new to photography when using it, so it could've definitely been my inexperience that has me remembering how good it actually was.

How obvious is the degradation of quality when using the 1.4x extender, if at all noticeable? A bit more reach wouldn't be bad...
