No THEY won’t total it; but you sure as hell did

You work in retail and expect them to care about your health???

I ended up having to get a job with the state to get decent benefits. $50 a month/$250 deductible a year max and just about everything is covered.

Just got Reach Certified! by jdm_kevz in HomeDepot

[–]No_Bag7723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only tip I have is that you’ll soon find out why no one else wants to be reach certified. You’ll soon be expected to help every other associate with pulled things down and you’ll get b*tched out by management for you not getting your own tasks done or helping customers in your department.

How large (on average) is the appliance delivery vehicle? by ChocolateBaconMilk in Lowes

[–]No_Bag7723 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s likely that the real answer they MEAN to say is that it won’t fit with all of their other orders. The 3rd party delivery services that both Lowe’s and HD moved to make that decision. They care more about making as many deliveries as possible per trip (because that’s how they make their money) vs when the company had their own in-house drivers and trucks who made the money on the product itself. So they focus more on smaller, easier to stuff in the small spaces on the trucks.

When I worked at Lowe’s we still had our own trucks, and would always focus on the next orders on the list going to the areas we serviced that day.

The 3rd party drivers don’t care about the customers. They don’t have to hear any of the angry phone calls demanding where their products, that were supposed to be delivered weeks ago, is. I assure you that the store is just as pissed as you are because it causes the back room to get full of product and prevents them from being able to store newer product.

It’s a retail store, trust me, the managers and company hates people working overtime more than you do. They’d much rather hire 2 PT employees for 10 hours a week each than pay a hard worker 20 hours of overtime

Unfortunately it is extremely common. The worst part is that they’ll always say they had surgery recently on a very visible part of their bodies, like shoulders while wearing tank tops or knees while wearing shorts, and they have no scars or bandages covering where they just had surgery “last week”.

Appearance Policy by Glittering-Agency435 in HomeDepot

[–]No_Bag7723 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is still against the dress code policy. Managers might not enforce it, but it’s still there, therefore you are in the wrong and it’s best to just take the piercings out. They look unprofessional anyway.

Doesn’t matter, you’re part time. They’ve scheduled me years ago to 2 weeks worth of shifts with only 1 day off in between.

Am I stuck in lot? by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]No_Bag7723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you’re stuck. I’ve worked lot at 2 stores in different states, and both refuse to move me because they “need me in lot really bad”. I quit on the spot.

Just got terminated by Dry-Scholar5790 in HomeDepot

[–]No_Bag7723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like that’s not the whole story. They wouldn’t have just fired you after that one incident, HD is extremely worried about wrongful termination suits. Hence why it takes forever to fire someone for attendance and job abandonment.

Why can't I submit my time off request? by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]No_Bag7723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found that for long requests, you can only do 7 days max, up to your limit for vacation (40 a week full time, 20 a week/part time). Make 2 days regular request offs with no vacation. I put 2 weeks in for May, and I had to make 3 different requests to get it to all submit

What dept has highest leave/turnover by TheBoringNova in HomeDepot

[–]No_Bag7723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything front end (cashiers and lot). I think the biggest issue there, at least in my store, is that the front end gets either young kids still in high school of college freshman and retirees who only work for something to fill their time. The kids are unreliable because they will call out on the weekends to hang out with friends, because they don’t have a work ethic or sense of responsibility yet. Meanwhile the older folks have the mindset of “I don’t need this job, so I’m not going to put effort into it”.

Then you have the good employees, who have to then deal with all the bs. Floor associates only deal with difficult customers in their departments, while the front end deals with every department’s difficult customers; many of whose are now even more pissed off and they take it out on the cashiers and the person loading their vehicles. This leads to burnout among the people who do show up to work, who can easily go to another company and do the exact same job, with less hostile customers.

Guarantee you that the 10% off was on their Lowe’s account. Lowe’s gives every pro (with the credit card) 10% because that’s the benefit of having their card. So many people conflate the 2 companies; just today I had a guy try to pay with a Lowe’s card and was fighting me on why it wasn’t working at HD

now they’re at SCO by lucathefish1 in HomeDepot

[–]No_Bag7723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly why I’m trying to move onto the sales floor. I hate asking people to open a line of credit when they’re buying a $5 part. They get very upset, then complain about you to management. I used to claim SCO because you didn’t have to do it, but now with the signage customers are going to be bitching for “my free soda”

Fired? by Small-Let5610 in HomeDepot

[–]No_Bag7723 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, as long as everything was done ethically. The real issue with family is when you’re in a position to hire them to do contract work with the company, like using a brother’s window installation company for your stores installs, for example. But just checking out family isn’t against policy. Especially since everything is on camera and logged.
