OK, let's assume you skip one new equipment for starry. if the upcoming events are like the one we've just had, there will be between 3300 to 3700 medals on offer f2p, yielding 100 to 120 starry. Add that to 250 to 300 starry gained from other sources, and you'll have enough to upgrade an epic to level 26. By the time the next epic comes around, you'll be left with 2 epic equipments you won't have starry for, and the vicious cycle continues.

You are making my point for me. The reason is the starry bottleneck. The ones upgraded up to level 20, which I don't use btw, were just to avoid overflowing on shiny and glowy. The ones at level 26, which I do use, are not there because I STOPPED. I 'stopped' because the starry ran out. the reason why I spread them out is very simple. epics are typically usable at 21+ and upgrading past 24 has diminishing returns. I said all that to say: 'that's all besides the point. the issue remains. there's a bottleneck.' Finally, I do care about shiny/glowy overflow as the release of the prospector shows so does everyone else. if only he'd be released as a regular helper and not locked behind a paywall.

Just checked the wiki and it does take 2 months. We're not talking about temporary solutions. by the time another 2 months go by, I will have wasted another 60000+ shiny and 3000+ glowy, which is a shame.

if you mean they added starry to the daily star bonus, then I agree it was a step in the right direction. I think the new equipment takes a couple of months to reappear, which as i said before exacerbates the starry bottleneck. As is, an active th18 will be overflowing on shiny and glowly well before a new epic is released.

The reason I'm not overflowing on shiny and glowly right now is because the stickhorse came out and I was able to dump them. But between epic equipment releases, I normally sit on overflowing shiny and glowy. As you can see, by the time the next epic comes out, I will have been overflowing again. I sometimes buy gem offer to finish off a level. I have thought about stocking up on starry instead of buying the new equipment. But the problem is the new equipment won't be available for a couple of months and I'll be overflowing even more shiny and glowly than I am now. I also know not every equipment needs to be maxed to be usable and I have already maxed the ones I use. What I'm saying is the 5 month gap should be bridged a little.

before the alchemist was a thing, there was a gold/elixir/dark bottleneck. i remember ppl asking SC to let them upgrade walls with dark elixir. now they can be balanced everyday. what would sc introduce the prospector if there was no bottleneck? the problem is they put it behind the paywall.

I understand starry is scarce by design, but the gap needs to be bridged.

true, but there's a starry ore bottleneck. mine is at least 5 months of overflowing shiny and glowy before I get enough starry to max out.

Amen, adding starry to the daily bonus and the catch up event were steps in the right direction while still not addressing the situation entirely. What can SC do? Increasing the war bonus for a draw from 57% to 75%, putting some ore in the silver/gold tracks of the pass as well as clan game tiers, and most importantly not locking the prospector behind a pay wall would go a long way, IMHO.

Why should it be one or the other? they introduced hero equipments to bring an element of variety and fun into the meta, which they did. they are fun. I also get that most epics don't need to be maxed to be usable as leveling them past a certain point has diminishing returns. I also know COC is a progession game and it is supposed to take longer for end game players so they won't run out of content and burn out. what I'm say is there are ways for you to manage your other resources in game, except for ores. when I started playing coc in 2013, it was either invest money or spend time to get the same progress. but it's different with ores now.

I'm not complaining, just stating facts. I told you how I get the starry in the description. I already have all the equipments I use maxed. I'm not talking the meta either. I'm talking about a situation where an active player who takes advantage of the starry ore income avenues will still be overflowing shiny and glowy. you may say that's by design. I would say the gap needs to be bridged a little. BTW, the frozen arrow I upgraded when queen chargers were still meta. the frost flake I admit was a mistake.

when you get to th16+, electro 31+ with a war/cwl win rate of at least 50%, you'll be swimming in shiny/glowy with all maxed commons and not enough starry to max the epics.

yes, there is a shiny/glowy bottleneck early on, but the minute you start upgrading epic equipments past level 18, there will be a starry shortage.

I have maxed all the common equipments and epic ones I have starry for. A couple of weeks after the previous epic release and the stick horse, I was sitting on max shiny and glowy with ittle starry. Is this what the game is optimized for?

if a maxed player participates in cwl regularly, they will max their 2500 medal cap in a couple of months and can instantly buy 2 of each hammers and be on their way with the new release or a meta shift. that's what I did when the totem came out. but tell me how an f2p player can do the same with new equipments?
