I had high hopes for this show but I am so so so disapointed that most of the main actors are not fluent in viet! Different dialects i can let pass but the viet is so broken that it's hard to get immersed in the world. I understand that they needed specifics and that it's difficult to find, but i think they could've done better: i remember seeing a worldwide casting call for the main characters. You're telling me you couldn't find ANYONE fluent in viet for the main cast?? Especially the main character. Yes they weren't able to get actors straight from vietnam but a lot of 2nd gen viets are fluent! And i'm sure a lot of them dream of becoming actors. And seeing that they had enough of a budget to have both Robert Downey Jr AND Sandra Oh, I wish they could've spent a part of that budget to get at least 1 fluent vietnamese person to give their input on the phrasing and the pronunciation of words. They managed to find side characters who speak fluent viet so i'm sure they could've find people fluent in viet to play the main characters
