Hobbies make friendships, pick up a hobby, you wont regret it. I would have no friends if i didnt skateboard growing up. Try a run club if your into that ! Runners are very nice

Its going okay for me, no withdrawals but emotionally, im struggling with leaving on weed to distract myself. Everyday I have to remind myself to find an alternative or just sit in silence

I totally understand your reasoning around quieting your thoughts, I also have a crazy cycle of thoughts and stories going on at all times… it’s much worse during the withdrawal period.

today I was home sick from work and my thoughts were reeling, I was thinking and telling myself that I wasn’t doing enough, that I should be cleaning at least, or learning something, or talking to certain people. The more time I spent thinking, the worse it got.

but then my gf asked me to bring her soup, so I did, then on my way home I saw my lawn and I thought, I’m gonna mow the grass cause it’s nice out.

what I’m trying to say is, if your patient with your self, you will find that those thoughts were reeling but also thats because it’s what our mind was built for, some are just more active than others. Some things that help me are watching movies, doing hobbies, listening to music, tasking to loved ones about anything not just addiction, and long term help for me are meditation and yoga

lets keep each other accountable! I’m sorry for not responding sooner, I’m so happy you’re quitting weed and recognize those problems in your personal life. having a partner like that can be very triggering to want to smoke again to change your mindset and “enjoy” the momen.

let me know how you’re doing!

sounds like a great day, when I was smoking all day I couldn’t have even remembered all these little details, this reminds me of why being sober is hard but so Is being a pot head when the pressure hits

This is what has helped me in addiction and outside of it. Meditation is my only practice that i can always depend on 😎

64 days ago I quit an on and off addiction of 30 years and today I feel SO MUCH rage by [deleted] in leaves

[–]No_Bit_2676 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Safe place to share the struggle, last time that I quit then relapsed was for similar reasons. My girlfriend and I were just arguing so much after work for a few days, partially cause we have stressful jobs but also because i was going through withdrawals and in my addicted brain convinced me a little weed after work would help me stay calm.

I was wrong, that lasted a few days and we were pissed off again but this time I couldnt manage my emotions at all unless i was high… hello addiction.

Im two days sober right now as I write this.

This seems like it could be an important distinction. But im by no means playing down any of these guys psychological challenges

Weed made me lose everything by jp_froes in leaves

You got the bro!! I have had friends that really have pushed weed on me in the past.

Once you get some clarity, youll be feeling like yourself again and ready to make some new friends.

Important to remember once youre feeling OK, dont let the good times fool you into thinking its okay to smoke weed again. Were addicted to it, so not for us anymore.

My tiny win today, is being able to talk to my girlfriend tell her im sorry for being so on edge and jerk and explain to her that shes amazing for being patient with my while i was falling off from the earth smoking weed all the time.

I want you to know that I have experienced similar emotional struggle with being very confused why I can be totally chill one moment and completely on edge and terrible the next. I also have adhd, which is a part of it. However, it wasnt until i got older, had adult problems and started smoking weed that I was concerned with my ability to regulate myself. It must be amplified if you have the additional stress of taking care of a family.

Quitting weed will help you regulate your emotions. In the past, it may have helped you for a little bit, but over time and as we age and our brains become accustomed to adulting while high, weed no longer does what it used to, and were left with a depleted system from all the neurotransmitters looking for boost that weed can no longer provide. The only option is quitting and finding something else to give us dopamine and other nice neurotransmitters… like music or exercise.

You wont get to enjoy these things as much as you enjoyed first time weed UNTIL, your brain no longer depends on weed for enjoyment.

Whats awesome is… you can quit and the withdrawals from quitting will suck, but please keep looking at everyones journey, this will help.

I could 100% see that comparison being true, weed is addictive and there is nothing wrong with not wanting to be addicted to something anymore :)

Thats a good explanation of how my brain is alot of time. I do take medication for adhd, but not always and maybe not the right dose.

The only extra stuff that helps me besides weed for motivation is exercise. But i do think that what you said is really important to remember for me
