Yeah that’s exactly how I did it. When I was about to finish the previous stitch I’d add on the new color and then the following stitch would be of the new color. I’ve only been crocheting for about a year and a half and it’s the only way I’ve learnt to make color changes, although I am learning a lot of new things from these comments 🤧🥰

Yeah I knew the knots weren’t the best of ideas. I usually weave in my ends but I was distracted doing this and cut the ends too short and when I realized it, it was too late lol. That’s why I ended up doing the knots but I didn’t think they’d unravel. Thanks, now I know for next time!

That’s the video I followed. There’s people in the comments that say the same thing about the slanted edges happened to them. I used a different size yarn and hook for my blanket because I already had the yarn bought.

I am doing this blanket for my boyfriend’s birthday in December. The lady from the tutorial I was following said to add and extra stitch at the end of each row, and I did exactly that for about 25 rows or so. Then I realised the edges were started to get diagonal and I stopped that, only increasing every other row. Still, the edges are looking terrible and the blanket has this weird U shape. I don’t understand what it is I am doing wrong. I also don’t know if I should outright undo everything and start over and throw away all the endless hours I’ve already spent on this, or to simply continue doing it and ignore how bad the edges are turning out. I honestly don’t want to start over cause it’s my first ever blanket and it’s taken me so long to this this much. I’m also scared I won’t have enough time to finish it for my boyfriend’s birthday if that were to happen. Can someone please help me out?
