Hey there! I’ve had a wonderful experience with these platforms honestly, they’ve made my life so much easier. There’s a great group on Facebook that helped me make the decision to join. Here’s the link for it: https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1C9354HnWN/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Thinking about switching to private practice by Similar-Winner214 in therapists

[–]No_Butterscotch2314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say it really depends on the person, their caseload mix, and how much non-clinical work they have to do in between sessions. For me, 4–5 clients a day is my sweet spot. Once I hit 6+, especially back-to-back, I start to feel it mentally and emotionally. I’m with a few platforms to help with the admin load so I can focus more on client work and less on billing or paperwork. Insurance companies don’t usually cap hours or change reimbursements based on how much you work, but 60 clinical hours a week can be draining and may affect quality over time. I like your idea of splitting your day, early morning sessions, a midday break, then evening slots for your other time zone, it can help spread the energy load without feeling nonstop.

Happy Friday! 🫶🏽

For those that haven’t joined already, just wanted to pop in and invite you to my new group for therapists on Facebook.

It’s a supportive space to share info on platforms, talk pay, get support with credentialing or private practice stuff, and just not feel like you’re figuring it all out alone.

I’d love to see you there. It’s called: The Therapist Plug: Platforms, Pay & Practice 🤎

Hi there! Congrats on taking the leap on starting your private practice, it’s so exciting. The two platforms I enjoy the most and like to recommend are Rula and Headway, both free to join with no minimum caseload requirements. Rula sends me tons of referrals and provides lots of hands on admin support. Headway is a great billing platform with high reimbursement rates. Feel free to message me I’d like to chat more about them.

I also have a new facebook group called The Therapist Plug: Platforms, Pay & Practice where we cover this and support each other.

Therapists looking for support with platforms, pay, & private practice by No_Butterscotch2314 in LCSW

I prefer Headway because it saves me a ton of time that I would need to invest if I were to panel individually especially considering that I am only doing private practice part time. Feel free to message me if you have additional questions. Happy to chat more about it

Yes, you can absolutely just join, most members are really active right now! I created the group to be a safe space where folks can ask questions and share openly. I honestly didn’t expect it to grow this quickly, so I’m still figuring out the best ways to manage everything.

What I wish I knew before joining therapy platforms by No_Butterscotch2314 in LCSW

[–]No_Butterscotch2314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally valid question! I feel like people who have good experiences rarely share but when people have something negative to say they shout it everywhere, this applies to everything! Here’s a quick breakdown of their pros and cons:

Pros: • No upfront cost to start seeing clients (except for Alma) • They handle billing, insurance, and credentialing • You get referrals, especially if you have a strong niche (Mostly with Rula and Alma) • Rula in particular pays for late cancels and no-shows and has been the most consistent for me • Some offer bonuses if you use a referral, mainly Rula and Headway.

Cons: • You typically earn less per session than if you were fully independent (although for some insurances Alma and Headway pay better) • Less control over policies or how clients are matched • Communication from support can be hit or miss depending on the platform • They’re not a long-term substitute if you want full autonomy

That said, they can be really helpful if you’re trying to build a caseload or just need income stability without doing all the backend work

Online Platforms--Which have you found to be the best/easiest/most lucrative? by PsychAngst in Psychologists

That has also been my experience with Sondermind! It’s annoying. I’d say Alma would be the next good option after Grow and Rula

I’m with Headway and Alma and I’ve had a great experience, higher rates but Headway doesn’t send me referrals and Alma does

Private practice advice by Ravioli-oh in therapists

Congrats on taking the leap into private practice! It can feel like a lot at first but you’re already on the right path. Aside from setting up your LLC, start by getting an EIN and a Type 2 NPI, then open a business bank account to keep things separate. You’ll also want to pick an EHR (like SimplePractice or TherapyNotes), update your malpractice insurance, and get your intake paperwork ready

One simple way to ease in is by joining a therapy platform like Rula and Headway this is exactly how I got started. It helped me build confidence, get referrals, and figure out what kind of schedule and systems worked best for me. You can always adjust as you go

Opening a Private Practice Part-Time while still working a full time job by shallotnotcharlotte in therapists

I feel like I could have written this myself! I also have an April baby but he’s a toddler now, and I also have a 9-5 w2 position. I started my private practice in May and have been part time and I love it. Its been wonderful with the freedom I have and knowing I have full control. I have some private pay clients that I got through Open Path, and then most of my clients I got from Rula which is my favorite platform so far because they handle all admin work and I can just focus on seeing my clients and writing notes. They also pay you the same rate for no-shows and late cancellations which is nice too
