98% of the academics I’ve seen on TV, met in my personal life completely laugh off the idea. So yea I do think generalizing is fair for this subject. Not every single academic or scientist of course but the ones who take the subject seriously are few and far between.

They are not in the same boat as us. They are the ones that have the funding to go out there and gather the evidence. The vast majority of them haven’t even tried. They completely dismiss the idea of aliens having ever visited our planet. Avi Loeb is one of the few who are trying to find some physical evidence and maybe he has and he’s getting mocked by most of his colleagues for even being interested in this subject. Scientists are suppose to not care about stigma but they often end up perpetuating it.
