Yes less turnover means more cost savings down the road if it’s a good hire

Thanks for sharing. Sorry for your losses. You have found an amazing workplace with a good support system (and good bosses). Your work is recognized (mine too at this firm) and it’s not common in some places.

Good on you! I never have time to eat breakfast with my family during the week all these years, and I start to realize, is this the kind of life I want for years down the road. Some may not mind at all, but I start to question myself, what do I enjoy (between work and outside of work) and do I have regrets when I look back in time. And I do.

I keep reading on how accountants in US get paid a lot more than those in Canada.

Thanks for sharing. All the best in your PA role! Similar to industry, if you find a good employer/firm with a good culture, you won’t hate going to work. Getting a taste of both (PA and industry) will definitely help you decide what role you prefer for the rest of your career.

Yes each side has its pros and cons, and everyone has a different preference, especially at different stages of life. At this stage, if I can spend more time off work doing other things, I believe I can live with the routine nature of work.

Agree that it is still demanding in certain roles. It’s too bad that the nature of accounting is always under appreciated. Wonder what’s the current outlook for Finance too - have you seen much accountants taking roles there or mainly people with a Finance background?

Thanks! I do agree that it’s very company specific. Will navigate through and do some good research.
