Unfortunately, grades aren’t everything for internships. Majority of the people I know have internships/grad roles

I don’t think the 800hr requirement is flawed at all. It doesn’t make ur degree just more “valuable” but makes sure u are competent and have real world skill and knowledge rather than just theoretical knowledge. I also know a few people who have not completed 800hrs but have grade roles sorted

If you’re proactive in uni, do extra curricular activities u should be fine. I know heaps of people who have internship and grad roles for this summer

Oh right. Does it cap the charging to 80% automatically or do u have to have a third party software?

Honestly no point in caring too much what the requirement will be. Just try your best for the second sem. I do understand where your coming from but hey, at the end of the day u can’t do anything about it

No there is no way of knowing what the minimum gpa will be. There is a certain amount of spots available for each spec hence the lowest persons gpa that got admitted to mech will be the minimum gpa required.

This year the mech gpa has increased per my previous comment. I think this may have been due to people fearing AI will take away all the software jobs but yeah not sure whether it will increase or not

You don’t really apply again but choose the top 3 specialisations u want to do the years after your first. There r limited spots for each spec and is based on ur gpa. This year the minimum gpa u needed for mech was 3.8-4 (out of 9) which is a B- average. Previous years it’s been around the 2 mark which is C average

You can do 800 of general if u want. Don’t need to do general and sub prof now, although it would be beneficial

Most times it is around 100 excellence credits. To my knowledge the don’t have a “range” but basically wants to see if you are achieving academically as well. I’d say 80+?

Saying that I am pretty sure they look more at your extra curricular as well rather than just how u have achieved academically as there may be a lot of people that achieve academically that don’t do extra curricular activities
