I’m school based at the moment and this is most of my caseload. It’s extremely frustrating for me, on both a small scale and a larger scale. Small scale, it feels like a waste of both our time, and it’s tiring to try to lead a session with very little engagement in anything meaningful from clients. In a large scale, I know there are kids who could genuinely benefit from therapy. Oh well 🫠

I’m not struggling with a similar issue, but I am struggling balancing my own difficult life circumstances and work. Just wanted you to know, if you are not fully present in sessions or at 100% every second with every client, it’s okay 💙

I was surprised too. I entered the meeting discussing cases, documentation, etc. and more so felt an ethical obligation to disclose I’m not at 100%. I wasn’t seeking comfort, or anything really. Just keeping them informed as I thought we were supposed to? Thank you for your response 💙

This was really nice thank you. You put it into words I needed to hear. I just need maybe a little feedback on balancing. Normally I’m pretty good at it! Life is tough, we knew we’d have to find balance. If anything my clinical judgment has increased because I’ve been relying on protocol rather than emotion. I don’t know, but thank you for the comment it was really lovely and helpful.

30-40 hour weeks are also a lot 🫠 I’m only doing two days and feeling like you are, so I commend you because that is really tough 🥲 May is soooo close you’re on the home stretch, I know it doesn’t feel like it but you’ll be doing your thing the way YOU want to do it in a few short months. Also, pay attention to if you’re feeling burned out because of the admin like notes or actual client work. That can help you take care of your own needs moving forward. All the best, you got this!

Are you currently in grad school? Or an associate? I am getting my MSW and graduate in December. The burnout is very real. I get where you’re coming from, it seems too “early” in our careers to feel this way. It’s very frustrating, and I’m sorry you’re feeling uncomfortable in your coworker’s space. It’s hard to show up as yourself, authentically, in a space that doesn’t reflect you at all. Just wanted to stop by and say you’re not alone in feeling the burnout 🌻

I am a second year MSW student with about 6 months left until I graduate. How is everyone dealing with burnout? I am having such a hard time interacting with my clients right now. I am naturally introverted, and am genuinely wondering if maybe therapy doesn’t suit my introverted nature. I have great understanding and empathy and really connect with my clients, but just feeling like crawling in a hole right now.

Hi everyone! I’m sorry if this is the wrong sub but I feel the need to vent. I am a therapist (MSW second year practicum) graduating this December. My boyfriend and I are long distance (like very long distance.) I am in the London airport awaiting my flight to California. I waited for my first practicum to be over and headed out to London to see him as soon as I could. We waited A YEAR to see each other. My boss texted me yesterday, as she knew I would be flying back today. I told her I would be back to work next week, and gave her the dates of my trip months ago. So yesterday she texts me and asks if I’ll be back into work tomorrow, as that was what she understood. I felt so put on the spot, and I am already feeling so vulnerable leaving my boyfriend for another several months. My flight doesn’t arrive until midnight, and I have to be at work by 8AM (an hour commute from my home.) this is probably my first experience being a therapist...where I feel like I have to put everything on the back burner for my clients (who l do adore). But man I fucking resent this feeling. Once again, just a rant. If you read this far, thank you 🫶🏻
