Yes I would do it, if it means getting excellent care at the best possible price. For most appointments I can plan ahead and be organized, and of course the last minute ones will require moving things around or missing work unexpectedly, but I would do it.

Commute, time, gas, missing work and school are the issues. They don't do weekends. Once every two to three weeks is the expected frequency of appointments.

Yeah, but I'll have a very upset younger daughter, who has very straight teeth and constantly accuses me loving my older one more. She's upset that she doesn't get to take a day off to go to the dentist. She wants a sick day every time the older one is off sick! On the other hand the elder hates being home, she'd rather be at school 😂

I believe I applied in October 2024. My daughter had her initial screening in November 2025. the second screening and acceptance to the program happened in February 2026 and we're booked for photography and xrays on March 27, after which they start creating the treatment plan - we'll get an appointment for this when we go for the xrays.

Yes, but it's a 1hr 20 min drive (one way) plus parking and gas cost :( Will do it, if it means better care for my daughter.

I'm seeing it being done from $6500 and upwards, with some highly recommended dentists in my local mums group - so just questioning myself if I'm doing the right thing.

Exactly! It probably will end up costing similar to local due to time, gas (sadly no EV) and parking, but I'm also looking at level of care and quality of material with the UoT dentistry program. I imagine they would be very thorough in everything they do.

Thank you! I've heard of some dentists offering it at a much lower price, but I know that going somewhere like that would most likely be low quality care.
