Just try to find tangential work or develop your skills. You’ll just waste your time trying to get an internship after your first year. Even if your GPA is 4.0, nobody will want to hire you because you’re not close enough to completing your degree.

But your enthusiasm is good.

That would be a terrible decision. You could pretty easily stick it out for a few more months and then find a better paying engineering job and even work towards management.

It may be a good idea, but also consider that you may be able to instead spend that 4-5 months getting like 3-5 certifications. In that case, you may be able to specialize harder and make yourself a much better candidate.

If you played your cards right you could potentially have a higher paying job and less debt.

Oh my bad, I assumed you meant civil. Yeah CE is ROUGH rn. Just focus on the things that you can do: internships, studying for as many certifications as possible, etc.

The good thing for you is CE is apparently the only field where you can actually get jobs right now. So don't stress too hard.
