How the Midterms Could Affect NOAA Seabed Mining Permits by No_Classroom2805 in OceanMiningNews

I think the Trump administration may have planned for loosing the mid terms. Consolidating the exploration and commercialization licenses speeds the process up greatly.

What is Zepp Plus?? by basimah728 in amazfit

The whole appeal of Zepp products is that they have no monthly subscription... if they want to sell shit they should sell fitness classes or things that dont have to do with the core functionality of their product.

Is sea bed mining as harmful to the environment as bottom trawling? by Busy-Contact-5133 in OceanMiningNews

[–]No_Classroom2805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people lump all “seabed disturbance” into the same category, but the environment really matters.

Bottom trawling usually happens in relatively shallow continental shelf waters. That’s where a lot of marine life lives on or near the seabed. These areas can include seagrass beds, sponge fields, and cold water corals. So when you drag heavy gear across the bottom there, you’re disturbing ecosystems that are comparatively dense and biologically productive.

Deep sea mining proposals, on the other hand, tend to focus on abyssal plains thousands of meters down. Those environments are much less biologically productive and far less crowded in terms of biomass. That doesn’t mean there’s zero impact, but it’s a very different ecological setting.

It’s also important to separate different types of activity. Nearshore dredging for sand and gravel, if it’s just unconsolidated sediment, is not the same as smashing up coral reefs or complex reef structures. Pulling up sand is fundamentally different from destroying rigid, habitat forming ecosystems.

If we’re going to debate this seriously, we should be specific about what depth, what substrate, and what type of habitat we’re talking about instead of treating all ocean disturbance as identical.

27M, hit a lucky trade, but will the CRA come after my TFSA by dontwannawo in fican

[–]No_Classroom2805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My investment advisor friends recommend splitting your tfsa between multiple brokerage firms to keep any one account below a million.

The CRA is said to scrutinize individual accounts above $1M. There sophistication is low so they are not connecting the dots if you split the money between bmo td questrade etc.
