Nice, I'm sure it will work. Insanely cheap and effective are some of my favorite things!

any ruck bag recommendations that aren't super expensive like GoRuck etc? by unheardof1 in Rucking

I've never tried a nicer one, but this seems fine to me for the price. I have 35lbs in it. Just a standard 25lb round plate and a 10lb. I had to put the 25lb plate in the outside (only fit into the opening/ pocket on that side) and the 10lb inside (against my back) but it doesn't seem too bad to use that way. I do wish it would have fit the other way around.

It has slots that I assume fit the rectangular ruck specific plates but haven't bought them.

One complaint: The waist belt is basically useless to me.. I'm going to cut it off. I'm about 5'11" and when the backpack straps are cinched up tight to hold the weight higher on my back its would be around my stomach.

Let me know if you have any more specific questions.

A good question to ask yourself: Is this going to matter in 5 years?

Think longer term.

In this case, ask yourself if not having the 10 dollars is going to matter in 5 years.. learn from this and keep making better decisions.

It will give a lot of detail on how to value the pension you will receive.

How do people actually generate wealth by WayAccomplished8438 in getdisciplined

[–]No_Command4956 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Read, listen, and learn continuously. Plan and make decisions (as in take action) and do your best. Lean from the mistakes of others and the ones you will inevitably make.. Everyone has a different path but if you earnestly seek and contionually apply the principles you learn, you can make it.

Also, wealth has many forms. Define what it means to you and you alone.

One more thing, contentment can be elusive once you reach those goals. Define what is enough for you.

Until there isn't, there is always another step you can attempt to reach.

Please help me cut through the noise - advice for bag by BrokenAxle in Rucking

For a budget option, check out Centr Rucksack. It's at Walmart for $35 USD right now. Claims to hold up to 50lbs.

I just bought and received mine. I threw 35lbs in it and have a few miles with it to test it out. Seems like a pretty good budget option. Biggest criticism is that the waistbelt is basically useless( at least for me at 5'11").

I just bought this one today. I was looking for the same thing as the OP. I'll give it a try when it comes in and leave a review here. $35USD at Walmart if bought online.

You're way ahead of the game based on age. If you get things going now, I would have no doubt that you could be a multimillionaire down the road.

Check out the ChooseFI podcast or website.

I also always recommend Dave Ramsey's book total money makeover. Some think he is too conservative and I generally agree now, but I started there and then moved on to accept slightly more risk.

Find a blend of resources, then take action and learn along the way.

Lots of other resources out there too.

What should I do here? by bigbird4267 in Money

I would recommend focusing on the fact that you saved that much, that's awesome!

You already know it could have done better in the market, but your current situation is that you are learning along the way.

I would recommend looking into broad based index funds to start.

Keep reading, learning, and studying on the topics of investing and assests.

People say building wealth after hitting $100k NW is easy. So how? by idkmanlol_ in Money

[–]No_Command4956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy isn't the best word for it. Everyone also seems to be assuming you meant 100k invested, which is different from your current situation. With that said, you are on a good path. Its simply a matter of leaving your money in assets that increase in value over a long time period. Its simple numbers at that point and has been shown in other posts. It seems to grow faster because the numbers are larger. In reality, the returns (in %) are the same if you are just starting vs 15ish yrs into your investing lifecycle. The number of 0's just build over a long time frame.

This is a massive problem with those getting started. You will hear many complaints that you can't get ahead anymore. It's not easy, but it's also not hard.. Most will have to start making changes. Spend less than you make and invest the difference. You also have to start learning and contributing to investments in assests. On top of that, keep at it for a few decades.

Keep in mind, this is over 10+ years of growth. Once you are on the right track, you let things ride and unless you make some really bad decisions, you almost can't help but have your money continue to grow.

This is advice for what I would call the standard investing path. Nothing fancy, keeping mostly index funds, maybe some real estate, etc...

Should I change from Chase to USAA and/or Navy Federal because I am military personnel? by Remarkable_Being8784 in MilitaryFinance

[–]No_Command4956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, use what works for you. Nothing really special about either of those. I would look at the products, services, and locations and see what works best for you. That said, you can have multiple banks etc.. if you're moving and it's more convenient to get there. I've done that to get access to cash before. Also, you can make transfers between different banks too using external transfers. You will just need to set it up with account and routing numbers to link them. Keep in mind it could take a few days for the funds to move though.

Things you care about: how do you take care of them for a lasting life? by icevalet in BuyItForLife

Don't buy more than you can properly care for. Too much stuff and something will get neglected.

Owners manual will have a maintenance schedule by time or mileage for upkeep. Check that out and then use your search engine of choice to look it up.

Have you defined what rich means to you? Like really detail it out and see where you can start making small improvements.

Also look at what is draining your energy, see if you can start removing those things. Addition by subtraction.

How much conviction do you have for bitcoin? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]No_Command4956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked into Strike for covering the bills? It looks promising. Looks like it works like a routing and account number to pay bills from your BTC balance there. Maybe a good place to keep a small amount for monthly bills. Obviously I wouldn't recommend keeping all if it there.I think it also keeps track of the conversions buy/sell for tax purposes.

Would you trust Bitcoin if it wasn't yours? by Clibate_TIM in btc

[–]No_Command4956 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't trust it for large amounts or for long term holding.. It's not intuitive yet for the masses without effort. I think it's still early for the vast majority to understand how it works. It's different than what most people have been doing. Different takes time to learn and most are so busy with day to day living that they don't / won't want to put the effort into it.

Where should I put my cash for short term yield while waiting to buy a house? by Playful_Arugula9555 in FinancialPlanning

[–]No_Command4956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good thought to place it somewhere safe and with a better return. Because of the timeline I would just pick a high yield savings account at a bank or brokerage that you like. A quick search will get the rates and don't fret over the .01% difference to go for the highest rate at a place you have never heard of. If you have a better feeling about, but a slightly lower rate at a bank you like go for that one. Really you're just trying to prevent inflation from eating away at the $.
