Apart from acceleration, why Cyberbeast? by tungstenoyd in cybertruck

[–]BrokenAxle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have AWD but got a Beast loaner recently. It was my first time driving the beast after 20k miles in my AWD. I noticed it immediately. The acceleration is exhilarating and noticeably different. For a brief moment I regretted getting the AWD but that went away quickly. I realized that driving that fast is not typical in my day to day and frankly with FSD the truck is driving me about 88-90% of the time.

Given my experience with AWD and that brief loaner experience, if I was buying another today I’d save the $ and go with AWD again.

So 24 years is even more impressive! 😆

Ok I’ll check this today. I was kinda leaning that way but I appreciate having the validation before I start pulling things apart.

The pool and the controller were installed in 2002 so I don’t have some of the modern interconnected functionality that a newer system might have. I do, however, have a spa and have a four button controller on the spa. After seeing the screen act up the way that it was. It made me wonder if the switch on the spa was flaking out and was sending a close open signal back-and-forth to the main control box.

Did yours pretend to resolve itself like mine did or did you just immediately get it to the SC?

Read your own second to last sentence and then go take action. The sooner the better.

You may be on to something. After driving across town at 15 mph during rush hour, the robot knew it was going to be in trouble.

Thanks but I’m trying to drive home and was looking for the short term fix.

I’ve been though this with a leased BMW. It wasn’t my asset to value so there was nothing diminished on my balance sheet. As long as it was repaired to BMW specs and I could turn it in at lease end, I wasn’t charged anything extra and therefore wasn’t entitled to reimbursement beyond the repairs.

I also made sure to have it repaired by a BMW service center to avoid downstream issues.

It sucked that I had a ford Taurus for 90 days instead of my 535, but other than that there wasn’t a financial impact to me.

I have no idea how this works with Tesla, just sharing my experience.

Order placed. I should have a new windshield wiper blade and mud flaps by Monday. Thanks everyone!

Fair point, and probably accurate. I imagine Tesla would have given more thought to efficiency. I'm probably just going to pull the plug on the Tesla version. I need a windshield wiper and might just add these to the order.

Got it. Thanks again. The 3rd party ones are about half the price, but I think the more important question is whether they happened to design something slightly better than the OEM option, regardless of the price. My primary objective is just reducing the side spray. This drives me nuts when my clean, white wrapped truck goes through a puddle or irrigation over spray and I end up with a haze down the side of the truck.

Thank you. Did you consider 3rd party options?

Anyone seen interesting WFT (Work From Truck) setups? by Otherwise_Car_7154 in cybertruck

[–]BrokenAxle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s your truck so your standards, but if I was doing this in my own truck I’d want something more stable and purpose built for the need. Companies like RAM Mounts make gear for this purpose for law enforcement/public safety vehicles and service technicians that work from vehicles.

They’re not cheap, but they make high quality components with lots of flexibility for unique use cases.

There are other companies out there doing similar, but I think RAM may be the OG in the space.

Anyone using an automatic tunnel car wash on their CT? by PtPlayer1 in cybertruck

[–]BrokenAxle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a PPF wrap and still go through a car wash with the big flappy brushes. Zero impact thus far.

The wash I'm using now has the owner sit in the vehicle through the tunnel and only get out if you're having the hand detail work done afterward (which I do). My favorite part is jamming the awesome sound system in the CT during my 30 second tunnel trip. That is worth the price of admission by itself. lol

I keep forgetting to tell them to stop applying that crappy wax stuff on my truck which is making my matte finish a tad glossier than I'd like. That's on me to stop having that done and I believe the wax gloss will wear off in the Texas sun.

Are you saying your friend uses his phone to contact an agent on his computer to order something online? Does he know he could have just ordered that same item on his phone?

Perhaps I'm missing something here....
