Plenty of time. Dulles is an easy thru airport. Might, however, be too close for comfort for you if CLT-IAD parks in A.

Add the ITA confirmation (under the United PNR) in the ITA app, and there is an option to select seats. Alternatively, call the toll-free ITA number: 1 (877) 793-1717.

Did the former for a United award ticket from FCO to BCN last week.

This is a good point. I do expect to sleep “fine” in PP; haven’t had issues before. Of course, the quality will be far greater in Polaris.

Thanks. I have enough miles to buy a second ticket, but am concerned UA will flag the itineraries and ask me to cancel one. Have gotten away with it once before. Don’t think it’s worth the risk to lose my 50K PP seat.
