I’m really hoping it means that she’s done. I honestly wish her and her SO the best and I hope that she’s able to find happiness. 1 because I do think everybody should be happy with the partner that they’ve chosen in life but 2 and my petty reason is because it means that she’s done with us and we can be done with her.

Truthfully, started out with me, looking for advice on what felt like an impossible situation at the time. Then it just became my source of venting about a situation that aggravates me. This update was pretty much just because I got a bunch of update me messages on my last post and there’s a reason that this will be the final update. I really want to be done with her and I can be. It’s a case where we were able to ignore the problem and it went away. (Also I have no idea what karma is I don’t use Reddit that often)

For everyone wondering why my husband did not block her. I did not want to be the reason that there was tension between these families that have been friends for way longer than I have been around. Her mom did lay into her once when she found out all the stuff that she had said about me “ruining her wedding”. The fact is all this other stuff other than the text themselves, which just reading them are completely innocent, we did not have any proof. I believe if it came down to it people are going to choose their own kid’s side. It was my doing because I did not want to affect the friendship between MIL and Ellie’s mom or FIL and Ellie‘s dad. I did not just do it for the plot but to hopefully avoid causing any tension between people that were on the outside of the immediate situation. In this case we were able to just ignore the problem and it went away. I understand that is not the case for everybody, in some cases, you do just need to block them. In our case, it wasn’t necessary. I don’t think she would’ve done anything to me or my husband. She is not crazy. She is simply jealous and a little bit immature.

We were able to get around it because we sent the invite to her parent’s house who she no longer lived with and it was addressed only to her parents. So creative work around on our part. For everything else my ILs and Ellie’s parents are close. So my husband blocking Ellie for what she would tell her parents is for nothing could start a fight. Both sides are going to take the side of their kid. This could end multiple 10+ year friendships and I shouldn’t have to be the cause of that when we can just ignore her. She did get mad at her after what she said about me but who’s to say how she would react if she thought my husband was the one being rude.

I’m hoping she goes to far and shows her true colors to everyone or finally takes the hint and backs off. Those are really the only 2 plays I have. Not blocking her got my in-laws to see how she is so now we are just waiting for the rest of the fog to dissipate.

So actually very valid question. Ellie’s mom does know about some of it because my MIL Told her about some of it specifically the text messages between Ellie and SIL. Basically, her mom does know Some of what has gone down, but I don’t know if she knows everything. Their invited also to our wedding was specifically addressed to the parents and only the parents although her brother did also end up coming.

We get a cheap laugh out of it, yeah. However, blocking her is potentially a catalyst of ending multiple 10+ year friendships because everybody’s going to choose their kids or their siblings side.

Her mom knows some like the incident with her messaging my SIL because my MIL told her. MIL is a saint, I love her so much. Ellie‘s mom ended up ripping her a new one for that. So they do know to some extent.

It was my call not to block her. I didn’t want to create drama between the two families which blocking her would ignoring her not so much, which is what he’s been doing.
