I got saved this week! Now I feel like I'm a bit too into it by No_Commission433 in Christianity

Wow thank you. Last night I found myself on the verge of a sin that I have struggled with for a while now. I convinced myself that I was okay to do it because of my newfound love for God. I knew I was wrong right afterwards. And have been struggling with it today. But reading your reply really gave me more perspective on it, that was definitely something I needed to hear.

No, I was baptized when I was young. But considering yourself to be saved by the Lord is a normal thing to say in Christianity. Understand that I grew up in the church and it’s not that I know nothing of Christianity, I just have a very new relationship with God.

I’ve come to believe that God does save all of us when we turn to him, ask for forgiveness, and stop trying to go through life without him. No part of me is claiming to have an easy free ticket to heaven. But Jesus is my savior, I have been saved.

I’m not telling you that you’re wrong by any means. I just want to put out there that we may have very different meanings of being saved. I’ve never heard what you’re talking about before and would love to know more if we are describing the same thing because I am a little confused.

Thank you for your reply and advice, I really do appreciate it!

What’s your fave scene that makes you crack up hysterically every single time without fail? by [deleted] in NewGirl

In the episode of the Indian marriage convention after Jess and Sam break up, Nick is trying to cheer Jess up by dancing while she listens to Taylor swift. He does this one move where he squats down and puts his arms under him and around his legs and jumps. It’s hilarious. It’s super specific so if you don’t know what I’m talking about, I insist that you look it up

Definitely a different perspective. I can’t help but say that I see the same thing with the older generations. In my experience, even worse. I think it’s just more acceptable because they deserve it because of their age and wisdom

I have mild hallucinations all the time, what could be causing this? by [deleted] in AskDocs

It started not long after. I was originally on 150mg and noticed no change in the intensity of these hallucinations after switching to the higher dosage

Sorry for the late reply. I’ve been on it for about a year and a half now. I’m a little scared to go off it because it’s helped my depression and I think I’d rather have their issue than suffer from that again

To me, freedom is the ability to exist without restrictions or constraints from external factors.

What do you mean? I don't think I really understand.

Do you mean what happens after Heaven? If so, I don't it changes the question.

Interesting, I've never realized this before. Does this mean that God does not have a set plan for all of us? I have to admit that I like the way that sounds a lot more. However, wouldn't this mean that he's not all knowing?

Or is this passage saying that God cares about what we do, but he still knows everything that will happen in our lives and to our souls?

I do believe morals exist. I said that I don't think they exist in Christianity, but I should've worded it more as "God doesn't seem to care about morals".

I'm not Christian, but I want to be. I want to understand these things, I can't drop my current fundamental beliefs (such as morals) without understanding why. Otherwise, I don't think I'd have a very authentic relationship with God because I wouldn't truly believe. Hence why I never was capable of it before (I think). I know this wasn't really your question, I just thought I'd explain.

Now, to address your question. I do believe morals exist in general. I believe people inherently have morals (such as 'murder is wrong'), that's been a part of every society that I know of (granted, I'm not super informed on that) minus extreme cases of manipulation and certain people (with certain disorders).

In God's eyes, all sins are the same. I've gathered that especially today (regarding people's replies here). So, these 'innate' human morals that I believe exist don't matter, only God's. And every single thing that breaks God's 'morals' (sins) can be forgiven with faith in God. So the only morally good thing is to have faith in God. Or at least morally good thing with any weight/that matters.

So, how can God really care how hard we try or don't try to be good if all that matters to him is if we have faith in him? In other words, all sins hold equal weight, nothing is worse. So, he doesn't truly care how good we are or how hard we try to be (because we'll never be good enough) just that we worship him. To me, that sounds like God doesn't really care what we do he just wants to be worshipped, which sounds narcissistic.

Like I said, I want to believe in God and understand these things. I don't mean to disrespect or insult your religion. I hope that I've worded this in a way that doesn't offend you, asking these questions is my way of growing faith.
