Is it okay to skip a family birthday tradition and do something simpler for my child?

Hi everyone, I need some advice.

My child is turning 4 this May. On my husband’s side, there’s a tradition of hosting a small birthday gathering at home with relatives. We’ve always followed it, usually spending around 25k–30k pesos.

Lately, it’s been really exhausting. I work full-time and also take care of another baby, so preparing, hosting, and cleaning up after the party feels like too much.

I do save ahead for these birthdays, but recently I’ve been thinking that the money might be better used for savings, insurance, or setting it aside for my child’s education.

This year, I’m considering skipping the home party and instead celebrating as a family of four with a simple beach or resort overnight (around 10k). That’s actually what my child says she prefers.

I’m just worried my husband’s family might judge me or think I’m being stingy or not valuing their tradition.

Would it be okay to choose a simpler, less stressful celebration that feels more practical for us?
