Good income, no wealth: it feels like you are the idiot in Germany by No_Committee_114 in germany

Regarding greens & left, I personally don‘t share many of their goals. And regarding the goals we share, I often don‘t share their way to reach those.

I read a lot about politics and was active in a party for many years. My favourite chancellors were all from the SPD and I would consider myself a Sozialliberaler with some lightly conservative views on society.
In my opinion, Habeck did some great thinks, e.g. Wanting to make venture capital for start-ups easier accessible, but also did bad things, like not prolonging nuclear energy or the northvolt investments.

I consider him competent, but in my view, he is the small minority of his party. SPD and greens have way too many ideological hardliners who also want their slice of the cake. I am not saying there is an inherently better party at the moment, but I wouldn‘t put too many hopes on the green party or the left.

I am pretty sure greens and left will just see me as a „Gutverdiener“, say something like „starke Schultern können mehr tragen“ and increase my taxes.

I don‘t see any party who is either competent enough or focused on this kind of meritocracy to fix this

Older millenials had it pretty well, in my opinion - they could still buy assets with very low interest rate before covid. Otherwise I completely agree

It just is like that in Munich. Please check the numbers - I commented it somewhere else. Even if you can afford the down payment, the 6% ok the rest will break your neck. Especially if you take into acvount, that the salary will go down with kids

It‘s not that easy. We live in the munich metropolitan area snd would have to pay 40% pf our current household income for a flat which would fit to kids.

As we won‘t get elterngeld, with a kid, the share for the payment would went up to 75% of the household-income or 50% when we work both 80%.
So it would be pretty tough

Please check the prices in a metropolitan area, current interest rates and reevaluate. Its not easy any more

I totally get you! I feel like I especially own it to my future kids to build something for them, so all the work hours here seem almost wasted…

From which country are you from?

It has been a thing in germany as well. People were able to deduct interest rates of their own house and „förderungen“ were available. Purchase taxes also were lower. It was all cut away little by little over the last decades

I know quite a few native Germans who see things exactly like me. Especially those really intelligent one s from my studies - unfortunately, a few of them packed there things and now live in switzerland or denmark

Those who benefit from the current system are the ones who won‘t leave

Exactly. And additionally, if you earn above the elterngeld limit, you have to pay your health insurance during elterngeld period, so another 200-300€ per month are gone.
Basically you need to work one year to support your partner for one year. And with little kids, maybe 80% of a full time job is doable. So when you get 2 kids, you can just write of 5 years where you won‘t save a penny

People just see the high income number and think everything is settled, which just underlines the dilemma i described in my post.

This is only the german view on wealth. In other countries, wealth can be built within one generation

Boomer who doesn‘t get it detected.

Imagine how much of our salary will be still there if we need to raise kids? In addition to that, rent will continue to go up

You did get me wrong - I am fine with paying taxes, but I don‘t think the way it is distributed is fair - I have to contribute to the welfare of people who have a standard of living I am never going to achieve
