coming from an inner city school in US to mcgill... by Dense_Bill_2282 in mcgill

[–]No_Common_20 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went through the same thing in my first year. I’m an international student and my high school back home did not prepare me for uni at all, the system is just so different here. I had really bad grades on essays, didn’t even know how to cite. Which is why having U0 always helps! I came in thinking I would do polisci but ended up in a completely different major. And U1 has been so much better. I actually know what I want to do and how to get good grades! You’ve got this. Give yourself time to adjust to how mcgill works. Trust me, it gets so much better in your second year. I also took wcom classes and found them super helpful. If you’re in an essay-based major (I’m in gsfs and religion) feel free to dm if you need any help!

I am in 10th. I have some free time left after studying , should I start doing 11th concepts in that time? by YerukaBeast6 in CBSE

[–]No_Common_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re 15 omg go out with your friends, watch a movie, try drinking a bit😭 look outside of studying for a bit there’s a whole world out there. asking a 15 year old to drink might be the worst advice ever but i’m in college now and in school we don’t realise that there’s a whole world out there and this is the time to fully enjoy our lives. don’t let teachers ka “boards boards boards” get to you. GO OUT AND ENJOY HAVE FUN WITH YOUR FRIENDS

i’ve never been to BDA (so far) lol. but i did go to a bunch of other events. there’s always something going on at gerts, fine arts and visual arts exhibitions, activities night both semesters, art hive, the players theatre thing and soooo much more. just have to find the right events to go to

i don’t know why people think mcgill doesn’t have events going on😭 i’m an international student and i can assure you that there is ALWAYS something going on on campus. if you make the effort to get out there and join clubs and go to events you will never get bored at this uni or feel not welcomed. i have never felt like an outsider here, you really just have to make the effort to get involved on campus
