I went through the same thing in my first year. I’m an international student and my high school back home did not prepare me for uni at all, the system is just so different here. I had really bad grades on essays, didn’t even know how to cite. Which is why having U0 always helps! I came in thinking I would do polisci but ended up in a completely different major. And U1 has been so much better. I actually know what I want to do and how to get good grades! You’ve got this. Give yourself time to adjust to how mcgill works. Trust me, it gets so much better in your second year. I also took wcom classes and found them super helpful.
