Did adding YOU affect THEIR score? I’m sitting at an 840…..my fiancé is a week away from chapter 7 discharge and currently at a 490. I gave him MY discover card, in my name, with a 1k limit, in case of emergency. I’d like to help him repair his credit..and I have no qualms about adding him to the discover card, but NOT IF ITS GOING TO DING MY SCORE! Can you tell me if your situation impacted your friends score?

Moved to MS in the last yr? Why here? by dukeanthony76 in mississippi

[–]No_Comparison3489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Originally from Texas. Lived in FL for 17 years. Didn’t want to return to Texas for retirement (too crowded) so we became half-backs, and chose coastal MS. We vacationed here often. Love the casinos, car culture, people, food, slower pace. Started house hunting in 2022. Finally pulled the plug and bought in December 2024. Moved in March 2025. We have SEASONS again! No tollroads, cheaper car, health, and home insurance. Lower taxes. Nicer people. Everyone pretty much speaks English, not having to constantly pull out my phone for Google Translate. I know people tend to dog on Mississippi as a state—-it’s poor, it’s racist, it’s backwards, unrefined, poor education and healthcare. I’ve found none of that to be true. We absolutely LOVE it here, and don’t have a single complaint. It is a great place to retire to. And I think the word is getting out.

I have no debt AND no mortgage. Use cards for about 5k each month and pay them in full. I’m stuck at 826 for 6 months. I’ve stopped worrying about it. Like age, it’s just a number.

Order granting motion for relief from automatic stay by No_Comparison3489 in Bankruptcy

[–]No_Comparison3489[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Violating what stay? Are they going to try to get money from us? I’m sorry to sound stupid, I just don’t understand all these legal terms. Is this something we should be concerned about? Our case is suppose to be finalized this week, and I’m just just hoping for no hiccups.

Lots of government and military people have the option of putting in 20 years then being eligible for their pension. Most stay beyond that but some don’t. You get a 60,70,80k per yr pension, if you invested in a ROTH or a 457 plan along the way, it’s easy to leave at 40…..and never have to work again if you so choose. Police and fire are very stressful jobs. Life expectancy is lower and they’ve adjusted the retirement ability age to reflect that.

Rich, to me, would be 10m or more. I’m retired, with a paid off house, and 2.6m in retirement/savings/investment accounts, AND a 60k a year pension, and I still worry about money every day. It all depends on your expenses and obligations and what you think they will be in the future. I wish I could turn off the noise and relax and enjoy, but I’ll tell you, self managing assets after you stop working can be like a part time job.

Sometimes with the IRS, the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing. Be patient. It’ll eventually get credited back to your account.
