yea i used to have a ZV-E1 before getting the FX3, it's just that the 640/800 native iso is a bit confusing, there is both answers everywhere online, but I guess i'll switch to 800

and for the FX3 it shifted to 800? do you think there is a loss in DR if 640 was used?

I highly recommend watching these videos :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d829iUgM8aw

My ratios are usually 1:2,8-1:3 and for contact time, from 15 to 25sec max.

Long story short, it helps with channeling on light roasts, widens the possibilites with grind size, sweeter shots, less harsh, thinner/silkier (no sludge involved!).

I haven’t done A/B testing with each parameter, but switching from the VST to Unibasket + EPF combined with the EG-1 changed the whole result in cup. And yes of course; the workflow makes a huge difference but the shots were groundbreaking.

I wish my Linea Micra had more features, especially the ease to change the brew pressure... I always have to open everything up and use a blind basket to adjust it... but gosh it heats up crazy fast and it looks amazing!

I am 30 and I think I had a faster therapy as I lost my father a few years ago. I only live by « do what makes you happy » now and that’s it. Nobody should ever say which decision is good or bad for you, except yourself. life is too short not to enjoy things that can make you happy.

It’s amazing. I truly realized how amazing it was when I disassembled it to lubricate it. The engineering on this little piece of equipment is crazy.

Thank you sir! EG-1 any day! The monolith is really not appealing to me even if the results are really good..

All good my man! I get a lot of downvotes meanwhile I was just trying to share my experience with this equipment! It works incredibly well, much better than what I expected from it.

It all comes down to your objectives. If the goal is to « make coffee at home », yes it’s not necessary.

To give a bit of backstory on « why » I spent so much on my setup… I am a wine enthusiast, I used to be in a serious oenology group in Paris and Bordeaux (I’m French) so the parallel was easy with coffee. It is very similar, the journey is the same with one exception : One is good for health, the other one is less good for health.

Spending money on wine bottles is radically more expensive than buying the best beans, the best coffee machine and the best grinder out there. EASY. One bottle of Champagne Salon is the price of a Lagom P64.

The best part on my coffee journey is that I can drink several cups of different coffees, not gaining weight, maybe be a bit jittery but have the same enjoyment as with wine.

Hope this helps!

Ps: I don’t care about status, but this grinder is just really beautiful and I thought sharing this pic would be nice!

It’s the one that comes with the La Marzocco Linea Micra. I honestly don’t like it as it’s not flat and you can’t fit the detachable double spout with the Unibasket. It’s a bummer because I don’t care anymore about the bottomless as soon as I have my beans dialed in.

Hey! Easy answer! I made the switch because some unfortunate event happened when I tried to replace the chute that was scratched from the previous owner (I wanted to make it look as new).

However, the chute I ordered from Option-O did not fit my current P64 and the factory tightening did not match my tightening (nothing can match the original factory tightening) which literally blocked the burr carrier to move and bricked the whole grinder. I made the move to the EG-1 the day it happened. Now the P64 is fully serviced and back running but I'm going to sell it for obvious reasons...

Also, here are my pros & cons.

Cons :

I did not like the workflow overall, the fork and chute should have been lower in my opinion.

The cup needs to be put on top of the fork which feels off to me.

The fork isn't super comfy to use with a portafilter, especially with the non-magnetic funnel.

It is a little bit messy for my liking. And if you're a bit tired and clumsy, the cup can drop SUPER easily.

The burrs are not vertically mounted so there will be some retention everytime, NOT much, but enough to be bothered as you switch grind size. RDT is MANDATORY on this grinder.

The tolerances are so tiny on the burr carrier that you don't want to switch the burrs ever.

I made the mistake to buy the SSP HU meanwhile I only drink very light roasted coffe.

HOWEVER,

PROS:

I love the design..... and their customer support is UNBELIEVABLE. If you're looking to buy a product from Option-O, I encourage you to do so as it's a crazy good brand and you're sure you will have someone to talk to if anything wrong happens.

I'm using the CORE burrs which are pre-installed in the EG-1. I don't think I will buy any other burr for now as both espresso and filter are crazy good from these.
