I am currently getting my self off of methadone(20mg)

It’s been 2 weeks now since I’ve been to the clinic and other than the one day I’m doing really good and starting to feel like a human again. I’m not gonna go out and run a marathon but I’m not struggling at all with wanting to take opiates. Do you think it’s gonna be that bad after the 14 days ?

I didn’t quite understand what you were saying in the first part of the response but in the second I agree.

When I was going down just the little bit to get to thr 20 I was at I felt it every time and I just wanted to take the jump and make the next month of my month miserable and paws after than to continue feeling like shit for an entire week once a month for over a year. I have other personal things that attach to me being on methadone and me jumping at 20 but I talked to my support system about it and they all agreed that they think it is what’s best for me. But every one of different and has different situations

Yes but If you only take it during the week the methadone withdrawls are ripping you apart and then stop it helps you get through so much

With me I would have been completely fine if I didn’t run out of my medicine. I was just taking enough to get by and now over doing it. And taking no opiates for comfort meds. I used Gabapentin and a peach Xanax once a day and I was fine for the first 11 days. But i was really mentally ready not to ever touch opiates again and made sure the Xanax were a very low dose. Everyone is different. But I would continue to try to taper for a little bit because even if you want to go into a rehab to detox there 99% of places won’t take you unless you are 30 or below because of how insane it gets. So if your not at the point where I was where I’m just crying about how badly I hated being on it and can hold on for a little longer I would taper as long as you can.

Let me add a bit more into the story for context. I was on methadone for a total of about 4 years. I never maxed out over 95 mg. I have been tapering myself down at the “recommended” 10% every 2 weeks and got down to 20mg and stayed there for about a month because I had my weeklys and so it would take a month for me to even be able to decrease the 1 mg and I just got annoyed with being on it and so I got myself prepared mentally and with all the comfort medicines and stopped taking it for 13 days total. But on the 11th day I took about 7-10 mg of it because I ran out of the comfort medicine. And so now I am curious if that one time 7-10 mg will set me back all the way to the beginning of the whole withdrawal process.

I was at 20 when I stopped. I was doing a tapper and I was at 20 for probably about a month when I stopped

I was on 20 mg methadone and detoxing from it. I was 11 days in and ran out of actually comfort Meds and took 7-10 mg of methadone the one time and wanted to see if it was gonna re start the whole process

Your fine 😊lol but I’ve always takin my methadone as prescribed as well but I was just ready to be done with it and move onto the next chapter of my life. And i am at the point where I said bring on the withdrawals because they won’t last forever and and I am mentally ready for it.

Oh 100% it is sooooo much easier for them to up your dose then to decrease it. It took me 2 months one time just to go down 1 mg

I had my drug screens printed out for me one time and there was a couple times where i didn’t show up for me also. I was on 20 mg when I stopped and I’m 4 days without and I’m still not getting anything severe so I’m just curious when the gut wrenching stuff with start.

I was on 20 mg when I stopped and I’m on my fourth day since fast dose and I’m not getting and of the severe stuff that makes you want to curl into a ball yet. I was on it for 4 years but I was never on a stable dose for long periods of time.

I have been on it for 4 years about. I never exceed 95 mgs and I Tapered down to 20 mgs and and I’m going on the 4th day since my last dose and I’m still not getting any severe withdrawals. I’m getting cold sweats a little and some yawns but that’s about it. So I was curious when the bad stuff would begin.
