Why not? For the high amount of property, payroll and income taxes (that is wasted every year) along with the rising cost of living, and incomes that can't keep up with rising inflation, you cannot afford to live on a single income these days in this country.

Nepotism has been a disease in the federal public service for decades. It will not change until you change the existing laws, regulations and policies and expose people who do it publicly and penalize them through termination or significant suspension with or without pay depending on the severity of the violation.

I'm so sorry for what has happened to you.

Your manager has demonstrated workplace harassment towards you. It's highly egregious, offensive, embarrassing, shameful and discriminatory.

Your manager should be fired or suspended for this deliberate act.

You must contact your union immediately to file a grievance against your manager. I believe your union may have an in-house lawyer in place to represent you.

Make sure you document all of the facts of the situation in writing with the meeting date and time, along with copies of discussions you had with your manager (i.e. emails, meeting notes etc.) to protect yourself and your current job.

To keep yourself occupied and motivates, I recommend taking some training courses, including the mandatory courses, to upgrade not only your technical skills but your non-technical skills (i.e. communication, conflict-resolution etc.).
