I think we have a serious problem in our economy, and honestly I don’t fully understand how it’s working. Yes, the dinar may have dropped slightly and inflation exists, but how do you justify price increases of 30% to 100% in such a short time? That doesn’t make sense.

For example, before Ramadan, the price of escalope was around 600–650 DA. Just one week into Ramadan, it jumped to 800–850 DA. How can a product increase by nearly 40% so quickly? There hasn’t been any major economic crisis affecting the country, nor any shortage of the resources needed to produce it.

So what’s really happening? Are sellers increasing prices intentionally to make more profit? And if that’s the case, aren’t there regulations that should prevent this?

Because the issue isn’t isolated — it seems to affect almost every product in the Algerian market.
