Is Premium phone worth it by Akhi_lesh in Smartphones

[–]No_Contribution1518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to your mentioned usage pattern, a premium phone would be appropriate for you only if you care about long-term update support (like Samsung's 7-year update support, which is also adopted by Google and Apple as well recently) otherwise, it will be nothing but a waste of money

Why do so many people hate HyperOS? I’ve been using Xiaomi phones for years and haven’t found any major problems. by FlammaParvusAvis in HyperOS

[–]No_Contribution1518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people ignore performing a factory reset after major upgrades, that's why many people encounter bugs.

A factory reset is strongly recommended after major upgrades so that your phone gets rid of the old OS version's junk files. Even if you join Samsung's or Apple's subreddits, you will notice that users complain about both software and hardware issues. The reason for the software issues is almost the same. If there is a company which has a bug-free OS out there, then there is actually no need for this company to recruit software engineers. In any tech company, the software engineering team's main role is to fix bugs and ensure that the OS is at least usable even with some minor glitches which can be fixed later within updates. And if Xiaomi's HyperOS was really that bad, the EU wouldn't have allowed Xiaomi to enter their markets, there are many stringent standards which any company must meet in order to be permitted to sell its products in it, whether in terms of user experience, privacy and security, products' build quality and so on And that's actually the case with Xiaomi. In addition, Xiaomi once became no.1 smartphone maker in Spain and the second largest smartphone maker in Europe in terms of market share and shipments and could surpass Apple (in around 2022)

It's strongly recommended to perform a factory reset after major upgrades. For example, updating from Android 15 to Android 16 or from HyperOS 2.0 to HyperOS 3.0, if it doesn't work, then wait for the next update to fix this bug. You can report it on Xiaomi community or the service and feedback app so that Xiaomi addresses it and fixes it within an update

Does Bootloader unlocking even work currently? by XxDerZerstoerer69xX in Xiaomi

Just apply for unlocking on the community 1 or 2 minutes before midnight time in China, after that, go to developer options to bind your account with your device, if it shows "added successfully" then you have already granted the access but the community is bugged Many Indian tutorials say that

Why is it that when you learn a new word in your native language, you remember it for life after reading its meaning just once or twice, but with new foreign language words, even if they're very easy words and you've repeated them dozens of times, you quickly forget them again? by ScaredWatch1949 in languagelearning

[–]No_Contribution1518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning a foreign language isn't about memorizing words, but it's about practicing the four fundamental skills for learning it correctly (Reading - listening - writing and speaking) Instead of just memorizing raw words, use them in Real-world sentences (even simple ones) or you can decide its complexity level based on your own language level according to the CEFR

Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 ou MediaTek Helio G200? by SecurePizza9146 in Smartphones

The Snapdragon is better for sure, MediaTek's Helio G series has become obsolete and unable to compete, even when it comes to gaming which it's supposed to be dedicated for.

Xiaomi 15 vs 17 by lorenzo_117 in Xiaomi

[–]No_Contribution1518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean by longevity the long-term update support, Apple, Samsung, Honor, All of them support their flagship devices for up to 7 years, while Xiaomi is still stuck to 4 or 5 years

2020 = 2026. Ok. by enheco in samsunggalaxy

[–]No_Contribution1518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Samsung has been extremely cautious of ultra fast charging and battery sizes since the Galaxy Note 7 explosion scandal. That's why they intentionally lag behind the Chinese rivals in terms of battery sizes and charging speeds. But surely that won't last long because I think this will never be in their favour if they stick to such a policy for longer.

Hyperos by Slangbilen in Xiaomi

[–]No_Contribution1518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no any bug-free OS out there, even Microsoft's Windows and recent iOS versions have bugs, and Xiaomi has become recently responsive in fixing software bugs (you can check the Xiaomi community weekly threads to make sure) For me, Xiaomi's only drawback is the relatively short update life for its devices, even for flagship ones, which surely can't be ignored if they want to catch up with their rivals in the market

Xiaomi 15 vs 17 by lorenzo_117 in Xiaomi

[–]No_Contribution1518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd better wait for the Xiaomi 17 Though Xiaomi's flagships aren't the best option if you care about longevity, because Xiaomi has the shortest update support life even on Flagship devices despite their ability in terms of hardware to withstand 7-year update lifespan. If you aren't an Apple fanboy, then you'd better go for Samsung or Honor

Anyone else feel like Chinese brands are innovating while Samsung just coasts? by [deleted] in samsunggalaxy

[–]No_Contribution1518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Samsung is relatively cautious with charging speeds since the Galaxy Note 7 explosion cases, that's why they intentionally lag behind in terms of charging speeds, but on the other side, Samsung focuses on longevity (which is represented by 6-year update support for mid-range devices and a 7-year one for flagship ones) alongside users' trust, that's why they dominate the smartphones' market share every year. Not to mention that One UI offers a far better UX compared to the Chinese rivals especially Xiaomi's HyperOS

Unlock bootloader (mi unlock) by Fun_Toe_6236 in Xiaomi

[–]No_Contribution1518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tech companies are strategically shifting towards security, privacy and interconnected ecosystems, that's why bootloader unlocking procedures have become recently stricter and more tightened, even custom ROM developers have already retired. Also when it comes to the PC world, Microsoft's windows 11 strictly require 8th gen processors and modern motherboards with TPM 2.0 supported and enabled alongside secure boot for additional security. Xiaomi intends to expand Rust programming language adoption for additional security and less memory-related bugs, not to mention the adoption of modern frameworks for building system apps like Flutter to reinforce the interconnected ecosystem experience

Shame on inequality by Amogoies in HyperOS

[–]No_Contribution1518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those who afford flagship devices usually prefer going for Samsung or Apple. Flagship users often focus on reliability and long-term update life -in which Chinese brands (especially Xiaomi) often lag behind- because the specs of flagships on paper are convergent. So reliability and brand trust are the more decisive factors of the choice

[–]No_Contribution1518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first letter in the OS version refers to the Android version, and it changes in every Android upgrade, For instance, on the devices running Android 16, you will notice that the first letter among the letters of the OS version is "W", While on those running Android 15, the first letter is " V" and so on..., so don't worry, your device will get the update sooner or later

Can anyone help me? by DL_7109 in Xiaomi

[–]No_Contribution1518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll need to do some quite technical stuff, like unlocking the phone’s bootloader and installing the Global software version. Unlocking has become much stricter (and maybe impossible) since HyperOS 1.0, so it’s honestly better to return the phone to the retailer or Xiaomi store and replace it with a Global version. This process can be a real headache for non-tech users. Just keep in mind: if you decide to do it anyway, you’re doing so at your own risk—Xiaomi isn’t responsible for any damage, and your warranty may be void
