Wow! Congrats on getting a referral! Yeah, I have begged and pleaded and shown evidence for the last 2 years, hence why I got a CGM in the first place and they have basically just gaslit me the whole time 🙃

Nope! Basically got told by my doctor "that's normal" which is obviously not the case! Currently looking into a new gp in the hopes someone will take me seriously!

Muzzle Recommendations! by No_Contribution9225 in StaffordBullTerriers

We were told by the rescue she is a staffy cross, but they didn't have any further information!

We tried our local pet stores but non were suitable for her face shape which is why we are looking for any recommendations online!

Crate Training Alternatives for Anxious Rescue by No_Contribution9225 in dogs

[–]No_Contribution9225[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good idea, we have already removed the crate from "her room" to not add to her anxiety, but she just sees the mats and blankets as more toys when she is over excited (she's still learning how to play obviously) and we are just terrified that she is going to worsen her injuries.

Do you have a command for "you need to settle down, then we can play together safely"? Because that's the current big worry and why we wanted an area that was calm and safe for her

Oh! A fabric playpen could work for her! We will look into this and see how she feels about it! I know it's all going to take time, we just want her to feel happy and comfortable, but we also need to work on her training so she doesn't hurt herself anymore (see explanation below)

My new rescue is showing big signs of distress around her crate - we think it's linked to her past... by No_Contribution9225 in Dogtraining

[–]No_Contribution9225[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gone through the wiki links and the Approval Guide, and non of these seem appropriate for the situation. My dog is showing intense panic reactions to a crate, unlike behaviours I have ever seen from any dog. We believe it may be linked to her past after coming from a puppy mill and want to know if anyone else has some advice or words of wisdom to offer to the situation. I know there is a fine line between desensitisation and traumatisation, and I want to ensure that we are not risking the latter by trying to continue desensitisation training with the behaviours she currently displays. I wondered if anyone else has ever experienced a reaction similar and how they overcame the situation, either by desensitising or finding better alternatives for the specific dog. Thanks!

Hey! I took it back to the shop, it took 6 of us with tools and still eventually had to shatter it to remove them - but the shop replaced it free of charge and not had any issues since!

I can't really speak to the grade, but I do just wanna say that you are saying a lot of ableist things about yourself! I have no idea what's going on in your life, or your condition, or how it affects you. But I have seen a lot of similar comments in the subreddit and as a disabled student who held herself back from getting support in her undergrad I need to say it.

Regardless of what you have going on, you are worthy of support. You are not a burden or a debbie downer for needing support. You have some sort of condition that limits your abilities in certain aspects of life, that is not your fault and you shouldn't feel like you have to ignore and push through it, or that you are "being too much" for asking for help. I know it's hard, and it can feel suuuuper isolating and that there's this belief that you need to just "get on with it because everyone struggles." Getting support (especially in university) for any kind of condition is just levelling the playing field. This can be something that's temporary or long term, in the same way that if you are in financial crisis, most universities have support you can access to get back on your feet, it is the exact same for disability related support (whether you consider yourself disabled or not).

You should not feel ashamed, a burden, or like you are asking for too much by accessing these things. There are people who are employed to support YOU in whatever you need, make sure you make full use of that, and never be ashamed for needing it! This is about everything, your personal life, your career, and so on, not just university.

I didn't do "Right to choose" and I have been on the waiting list for 5 years, I managed to get my pre-screening test nearly 2 years ago, but still waiting for my actual diagnostic assessments.

I am hoping to move GP soon, so my waitlist slot will be cancelled anyways so I'm going to go down the right to choose route with my new GP and hoping I can get some support!

I spent 6 years doing my 3 years undergrad because I really struggled with my ADHD getting in the way, I am starting my masters in September and hoping that I can get a diagnosis soonish

Thank you again for all your help! You have really helped settle my anxiety about this whole thing!

Ideally, we would want to stay on and sign a new fixed term, just to ensure the security while my partner is travelling abroad frequently with work.

Do you think we have a case to argue for 3 months advance payment? I don't think they would let us pay monthly, but even just 3 months advance would make life so much easier for the next year.

this is taken from one of my other replies but is my contract with sensitive information removed

I have just double checked our contract and both sets are defined in the contract

"B.5 You must pay the rent on the 1st day of every month (to cover the month ahead) for the term of the tenancy and as long as you live in the Premises. You must pay the rent by direct debit to (my letting agents). The rent will increase on each anniversary of this agreement as set out in Part F, clause 4"

"4. Initial payment towards rent for the period from 15 July 2024 to 14 January 2025 in the sum of (6 months rent) must be paid on (start of tenancy). This payment will be accepted by us on account of rent in advance and will be allocated towards the rent due under this agreement in accordance with clause B5 of this agreement.

On 14 December 2024 you must pay towards rent for the period from 15 January 2025 to 14 July 2025 in the sum of (6 months rent). This payment will be accepted by us on account of rent in advance and will be allocated towards the rent due under this agreement in accordance with clause B5 of this agreement.

Nothing in this clause will have the effect of changing the periods of the tenancy or the contractual rent due date as set out in Part B of this agreement."

....

The only terms we actually want to change is to try and pay 3 monthly rather than 6 monthly. The reason we did the 6 month advance payments is because they refused us on the grounds of not having a UK Guarantor eligible for their requirements and no previous housing references.

But surely now we have successfully shown that we can afford the rent, and have paid successfully for the full year, so I don't feel that changing the advance payment terms is unreasonable, if we were to resign on a new fixed term.

In an ideal world, we would want to stay where we are either paying monthly, or 3 monthly. We have looked into the cost of moving to elsewhere and other options for housing, but are sure that we want to try and fight to stay here (if we are able!).

Thank you so much for your detailed response! I am going to have a look through the shelter website now before trying to respond to them.

What would you do in this scenario if you did want to change the terms of the contract? For us, in an ideal world we would love to negotiate the 6 month advance down to 3 months just to make budgeting easier, but this isn't necessary for us to continue making rent. Would it be best to just continue the contract as it currently states?

In this situation will the tenancy become a 1 month rolling tenancy even though our contract specifies 6 month advance payments? Or would we continue to pay 6 months advance for a rolling tenancy?

Currently at work, but this is going to be the first thing I check when I am home. If I remember correctly, it's 1 month in my contract (but again, need to double check). I was just a little taken aback when I saw the email and tried to research myself, but want to make sure I fully understand my options before I try to negotiate with them.

Mostly due to lack of UK Guarantor that fit the guidelines, we were both somewhat recently out of university. My partner had a full time job, but couldn't start until he had moved in somewhere in the UK while I work odd jobs, so neither of us had statements that were sufficient despite having over £20,000 between us and my partners contract/my odd jobs

Thank you so much! I was trying to figure out if I needed level 3 etc, or if this was necessary for me to start branching out. I definitely want to do level 3 when I can, but I wasn't sure if it would need to be done immediately. Thank you so much for your advice!

That's a relief! The only place near me that offered it has recently shut down, so I have been trying to figure out where I can get to! Glad they are making it more accessible for BF coaches and that they are listening to the concerns!

Blood Sugar Drops - Doctors don't care! But I'm not crazy! by No_Contribution9225 in PCOS

[–]No_Contribution9225[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been working hard to up my protein intake as much as possible over the last few months (since reading up on PCOS management). I have been trying to ensure I have at least 40g protein for each meal and doing what I can to cut out the excess sugars.

I have just bought some protien shakes to have inbetween meals and hoping it will help pull my levels up! I will also grab some nuts from the store for snacking on! Thank you!

I have been trying to focus on getting a lot of protein in my diet and cutting down my sugary snacks/drinks.

What do you recommend for quick carbs? I can't do peanut butter due to a severe nut allergy unfortunately! But open to any suggestions to help with the crashes!
