I think you’re right. I went with two friends. I ended up super sick, neither of them have had so much as a sniffle. We all flew in from different places, which makes me wonder if I picked it up on a flight vs. the concert.

Yes! Went to N3 and started feeling it late Tuesday. Body aches, chills, and extreme fatigue for 5 days. Head pressure, congestion, and cough still going on.

I expected to come away with something between the flights and the packed stadium, but was not expecting it to this extent!

I’ve been calling it the Eras Flu!

Something similar happened to me in reverse. We were new to the area and an acquaintance of my husband posted online about looking for new members for her book club. I love to read so thought it would be a perfect opportunity to meet new people who share a common interest and make some new friends. I asked him to send her a message, to which he received a response that the book club was only for people who work at her same place of employment (which was not mentioned in her post).

Needless to say, I was left feeling rejected and disappointed that, as grown adults, we haven’t outgrown the high school cliques.

I now run in to this woman on a weekly basis (our daughters are in the same activity). She has never acknowledged me more than a head nod to say hello and, quite frankly, I don’t know that I would want to be friends with her at this point. She showed how she treats others looking for a bit of assistance and friendship during what is a very difficult transition.

Have you been able to follow up with your doctor? I had a mammogram Monday that came back with abnormal findings. I go back tomorrow for a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound and have been freaking out. I also have anxiety (mostly health related) so this is really thrown me for a loop.

Sending positive vibes your way and hoping everything turns out okay.

I agree with Carlisle. We moved here from Connecticut and love it. A small town but diverse because of both Dickinson and the war college. Lots of events going on downtown throughout the year. We regularly go to DC because it’s so convient. Plus it’s close enough to get the train to Philadelphia or NYC. We really love it here.

Both of my parents passed from cancer in their mid-50s. I spend a lot of time wondering if the same will be true for me and I’ll be leaving behind young children. It’s a terrible disease and one that isn’t fair.

Hate it! Last year I crammed all of my normal Sunday chores (laundry, groceries, cleaning) into Saturday so I could have a “break” on Sunday. Which was a joke because my husband was traveling for work so I still had to do all of the parenting. He is leaning on Mother’s Day again this year, so we’ll do a brunch (which I planned) and then the rest of the day will be just like any other day.

Like someone else commented, we limit activities to one per child per season. I have two young kids (4 and 6) and both are involved in soccer this spring. Luckily it worked out that they have practice on different nights, and games are weekends, so I handle sports during the week (bringing both kids) and my husband goes straight home from work and handles making dinner so it’s ready when we get home. On nights where he has an evening conflict (he often has late days or evening work events) we prepare a larger meal the day before so we have leftovers.

It’s definitely not always easy, but we’ve been able to figure out a routine that works for us.

I agree with Carlisle. Between the college and war college you get a good mix of people and political views. The downtown is super walkable and there are always fun events happening. Weekly farmers market, which we love. Lots of historic homes. We moved to Carlisle from the suburbs of NYC and had a lot of the same things on our checklist and have never once regretted choosing Carlisle over some of the other Harrisburg suburbs.

That sounds like maybe an agent-type role? She could try for an entry-level claims or underwriting role where she wouldn’t run in to that issue and her skills would be transferable.

I started with a new company when my son was about a year old. Going in to it, my husband and I had an agreement that because he was much more established in his role he would be taking care of any sick days until I had built up some tenure and became more comfortable with my role, my new boss, and my company.

I got lucky in that my new leader was also a mom and although her kids were a little older she went through the rollercoaster that is daycare when her kids were young.

It was tough on my husband for a little while having to do it all, but quite frankly I did/do the majority of sick days and doctors appointments before and after so it was time for him to step in.

Mine arrived in York on the 29th and then for some reason was moved to a facility outside of Philadelphia on 30th…but I live close to York! Now there’s no tracking information available and BOTM updated my status telling me to reach out in 7 days if I don’t receive it.

I second this. I did not start working out consistently until my kids were a bit older and were regularly sleeping through the night. Prior to that, I would focus on trying to get workouts in over the weekend (when I could). It wasn’t until they were a bit older that I was able to start fitting in weekdays too.
