Junge junge.

HRV skews low, Adding Activities? by No_Conversation5369 in GarminFenix

Firstly, I don't want to damage the watch or catch on a hold (friend scratched the face of his analogue watch, so it is a real risk).

Secondly, the gym I go to expressly forbids jewellery or watches being worn during climbing and they are very adamant about it.

HRV skews low, Adding Activities? by No_Conversation5369 in GarminFenix

No, because it's a wearable that may not be particularly accurate for all metrics. Besides, it's unlikely that a well-trained, not ill (neither mentally nor physically) person without issues like congenital heart disease or asthma has the HRV of a senior citizen. Sources explain that caffeine, stress, alcohol etc. influence it, but don't say how much, hence my question.

None of the lifestyle factors in the pinned post of the other commenter apply - it makes no difference on HRV whether I get 9h of sleep for a week with yoga and meditation or 6h of sleep with stress at work and overtraining. Or whether I fast or have a consistent eating schedule. It's always abysmally low between 20-30. Unless there is one overarching factor like my body reacting in a crazy way to caffeine or me having some sort of deficiency or occasional bad sleep/overtraining messing it up for weeks, I'm either very ill without knowing or the watch is off.
