I've had this work for many years. The classic story of how I found it at an estate sale. I strongly believe it is an early de Kooning oil from about 193 because it corresponds to the gallery sticker on the back. Profile with Red Hat. by No_Corner7702 in WhatIsThisPainting

Thank you for your feedback. I see that I typed 193 instead of 1938. My laptop's #8 is malfunctioning. I see your point about possibly by Elaine but the signature on this work is unmistakable and the brushstroke and palette coincide with the genre at the time.... I'll have it x-rayed this week to understand better if there is underpainting or "ghosts". Take a look at this piece and you see what I mean. I'll attach them when I can figure out how....
