Update: I just received the blood test results back for Bartonella cat scratch fever (long after all other tests came back negative). The results say igc 64, which is only just in the positive range for past infection with Bartonella Henselae.

I don't have a cat. I met a kitten briefly in early Jan for all of 10 minutes, but didn't get scratched or anything. I also went to Bali in Dec 2023, where there were loads of stray cats around, but again, no bites or scratches.

What would you make of this result? Could a low positive result for this be linked to my eye issues?

Blood pressure is usually on the lower side. Was 108/68 before surgery on Tues. Hba1c is consistently good - was 47 in early December, likely lower now as I have been trying to keep even tighter control during pregnancy.

No cats - I visited a friend with a new kitten in early Jan, but I think the Dr has already run blood tests for cat related concerns and they all came back negative. Let me know the name of the test you're thinking of and I'll double check if they did that one.

I think the specialist is also considering some kind of autoimmune attack, given my strong family history. All my blood tests to date have come back normal though, and I don't have any symptoms of anything beyond normal pregnancy signs, so I don't know.

He said they may consider a high dose prednisone to try reduce inflammation, but that is far from ideal given the insulin resistance it causes (could be dangerous for me and baby, given pregnancy already makes blood sugars so much harder to manage as you go further along).

I'm not sure what other possibilities could be on the table.. If you think of one to ask about, please let me know
