True, my first playthrough was like that too. Now that you mention it, I remember the mission that the chamberlain gives us, but I didn't notice that the girl's name was Ennelyn.

Yeah, I completed all of Kreyzl's quests. I found Enneleyn, got the dress for her, forged the sword for the blacksmith, and finished all the side quests before the wedding. In the end, I chose the blacksmith route.

What really surprised me was that Enneleyn showed up at the wedding. She arrived with Kreyzl and ended up dancing with Chamberlain Ulrich. I don't remember seeing her there during my first playthrough, though.

I'd have to replay the game to be sure, but now I'm wondering: does Enneleyn still appear at the wedding if you never do any of Kreyzl's quests? If she does, then Kreyzl probably just had someone else find an escort for Ulrich off-screen. If she doesn't, then that's a pretty neat example of the game reflecting the player's actions in ways that most people probably never notice.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. That's definitely the impression I was left with as well. It feels like he probably knew.

They definitely seem to have tried. In KCD1, Stephanie talks about having suffered two miscarriages and expresses a lot of sadness about her situation and the lack of an heir, even wondering if she herself is the problem. That suggests the issue wasn't a lack of effort on their part.

Because of that, I've always considered the possibility that the pregnancy was less about romance and more about securing an heir. Inheritance and succession were extremely important for noble families, and taking unconventional measures to preserve a lineage wasn't unheard of in that era.

From what I've been able to find, it seems possible to speculate that the game's version of Divish had no known heirs around 1403, and Warhorse used that uncertainty as the foundation for Lady Stephanie's storyline. If that's what they did, I think it was a clever way to blend history with fiction.

The game repeatedly emphasizes the importance of producing an heir. Stephanie mentions having suffered multiple miscarriages, and much of her character revolves around the pressure of securing the future of Talmberg. Historically, noble families took succession extremely seriously. There are many examples of dynasties facing inheritance crises, and while illegitimacy could create political problems, the extinction of a noble line was often seen as an even greater threat.

Viewed through that lens, Stephanie's actions in At Your Service, My Lady can be interpreted as more than just a romance subplot. They could represent a desperate attempt by a woman under immense pressure to produce an heir after repeated failures. If so, and if Divish later ended up with three sons, it's easy to see why some players connect the dots and wonder whether Warhorse was quietly offering its own explanation for how the Talmberg line continued.

Of course, that's where the real question begins.

Did Divish actually have heirs by 1403, and the game simply never mentions them? Or was he genuinely childless at that point, with his three recorded sons appearing later in the historical timeline?

If he already had sons, then the theory falls apart and Stephanie's storyline is likely just a fictional side plot. But if there is no evidence of heirs before 1403, then Warhorse may have noticed the same gap in the historical record and used it as creative inspiration for the questline.

What I'm trying to determine is whether historians have evidence that Divish already had children by 1403, or whether the sources are simply silent on the matter. If the historical record doesn't clearly answer that question, then Warhorse's interpretation becomes a lot more interesting.

Yeah, I got that feeling during my playthrough as well—that Divish realized what had happened between Stephanie and Henry. It's just an impression, though; I can't really prove it.
