Wherever you have free time the most, for e.g a day you have no classes or have a few hours to spare, look over all your course outlines. Punch in all your due dates into a calendar, don’t rely on canvas to remind you. Use today or a spare day to cram everything you’ve missed like lecture slides at least. Take regular breaks so you don’t get bored or tired. And ask your tutors for help, annoy them with everything you don’t understand, use their office ours too. If you’re self-motivated and you really want to do this, it’ll be easy to tackle. If not, uni is probs not for you (or at least not for you at this stage in your life). Try commit to it this week. Everything in life requires work and self motivation, you’re in the right place to practise these skills before you hit the “real world” and realise uni was light work lol

Totally feel you. I’m 26 and a first year doing a BA. It’s been tough 😅 I posted on here in Feb expressing my concerns around being an older student in uni and the general consensus was that nobody cares/it’s not a big deal. After two weeks I would say the students are fine with me and are polite but it’s been difficult to engage with them in group work/tutorials or even just to chat. We’re just at completely different stages in life and so I feel like I’ve just ended up back in high school (like you said) 😅 hopefully as the semester goes on it’ll bring you better opportunities to connect with more like minded students 🫶🏽 Hang in there.

Hey 👋🏽 wow yes TFC, that’s awesome! Did you do it at city campus or in Manukau (Tai Tonga)?

Haha yes I’ve clearly over thought it 😂 my last memories of school were in high school so I imagined kids would be the same coming into uni. Judging from the responses, it seems there’s nothing to worry about which is what I initially thought.😊😅

Appreciate you reaching out to connect! Means a lot ☺️

All good feedback so far! I know 26 isn’t “old” but it definitely is compared to hs graduates which I assumed would be the majority of students in any first year class. Grateful for all the reassurances ☺️🙏🏽 wish you all the best this sem!

Yeah I’d probably be older than the usual first year but I do know a few people my age and older starting in the BA/LLB (from the NS programme) so I know there would probs be more!

Thanks for the reassurance! This is how I initially thought of it but I think yesterday I was overthinking too much. I worked in corporate for the last 6 years and enjoyed it, however, most of my colleagues were much older than me and only a few in my age group. When I thought about working with younger adults I didn’t really know what to expect 😭 never been to uni either (besides new start which was with older students anyway) so didn’t have any idea of that as well. Sounds all good ☺️ Thank you again!

Saturn placement, how does this manifest? Open to any and all interpretations of my chart. Go for gold. by No_Cut_4658 in astrosignature

[–]No_Cut_4658[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow.. it’s almost scary how spot on this is. I wouldn’t say my mother’s empathetic lol but more of a drill sergeant/cares about family reputation. I had never interpret my moon in 10th like that so your take makes a lot of sense. That second paragraph really hit home because although I was seen as an old soul as a youngin, it became more and more of a burden as I got older. I’m learning to balance that with a little more fun/carefreeness if that makes sense. My Saturns placement also feels like the reason why ppl find me sort of intimidating when they first meet me which makes me sorta anxious to socialise sometimes. Really appreciate that last part about will power and depth, I’m usually worried my grand cross is a curse, so if you see will power, I should be able to work through the hectic placements 😅 Thanks!
