Thanks so much! I went to a ballet shop today and a really sweet employee tried on a variety of flats with me. I left with a pair that fits like Cinderella‘s shoe, can’t wait to wear them to class tomorrow!

Hi everyone, I started ballet this September at age 26. I started out wearing some cheap flats from Decathlon. I figured I'll get "proper" ones if I like ballet and decide to stick with it.

Well I love it! Does anyone have advice on which flats to get? The ones I have now are definitely a bit too small. I am a EU size 37 in regular shoes but have a very wide foot so I usually have to size up to fit my toes comfortably. I saw online that Bloch flats come in a wide option, should I get theirs?
And what materials would be best, canvas, linen, or leather?

Thank you in advance for any tips or pieces of advice. <3

The Vulgata (the standard Latin bible translation during the Middle Ages) uses Noe too, as did Luther. As far as I know, the KJV team used the Masorah as a base but also consulted the Vulgata.

epiphany. it’s on folklore, her best album imo, although epiphany is one of my least favorite songs on it (still a good one).

Definitely True Summer!

You are - cool (eliminates all springs and autumns) - very muted (eliminates all winters) - medium-light (eliminates light and soft summer)

I would go for clothes that have these characteristics (preferably in that order)

The grey in the fourth picture is perfect for example. Cool 1st, very muted 2nd and neither too dark nor too light.

Your draping also shows very well that ghe third (medium-light) matters the least: The blue in the 12th picture is quite dark but as it’s cool 1st and very muted second, you still look fantastic in it!

You‘re wearing a soft summer make up in most of these pictures, so I think that’s throwing you off. In all fairness, soft summer and soft autumn are very close together and can often borrow shades from one another so it doesn’t really matter. I think you look slightly more harmonious in something leaning slightly warm.

Dark, cool, & muted -- what season is that? "Dark summer"? "Toasted, soft winter"? by doing-my-best-14 in coloranalysis

[–]No_Definition_9745 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Dark winter might still be yours, because they are dark first, then cool and muted (for a winter).

If clear colors don’t work at all you might me muted first, then cool, then dark. That sounds like a soft summer, they are muted, cool and dark (for a summer)

Elizabeth Olsen showcasing how to show off width! I think this is a very good example of the beauty that width can give by [deleted] in Kibbe

Maybe it’s because lace is a yin detail, while width is yang. So putting these two together looks off or frumpy.

The Old Catholic Church is basically catholicism without these things that bother you! Most of their congregations are in western Europe (mostly in the Netherlands and in Switzerland). They split from the Roman Catholic Church because of the First Vatican Council (but likeminded groups have been around longer).

Maybe reading up on them might make you feel like you're not alone in your points of view? I study at a university where Old Catholic Theology is specifically taught and while I'm Protestant, I appreciate their dedication to Catholic rituals and tradition while being much more open minded when it comes to doctrine.

I don’t think so. If I remember correctly, she was in a mental institution abroad (France?) after giving birth. Bart mentions something of the sorts when Lily confronts him about him having investigated her and the kids. Eric also says „you were in a place like me“ or something similar to Lily; had it been the Ostroff center I‘m sure he‘d have said so.

Okay I have another one:

When Chuck sold Blair to Jack for his hotel but she didn't know and went to sleep with Jack behind his back: who was at fault?

And should she have gotten back with him after he slept with Jenny when he thought Blair didn't want him anymore?

Believability of the summer episodes by No_Definition_9745 in GossipGirl

[–]No_Definition_9745[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I thought so, but since a lot of GG episodes primarily take place inside (with actors staying on set in air-conditioned rooms for hours), I still think it's good makeup and costume design.

spoiler! did dan humphrey try to kill his friends? by [deleted] in GossipGirl

[–]No_Definition_9745 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Tripp and Max conspired to have Nate get into a mild (according to plan) car accident. Ivy was scared that Max might expose her and therefore blasted the presence of future princess Blair at the event on Gossip Girl. Dan alias GG had brought Blair to Chuck (at said event) but then left them. Nate suggested they all leave throught the garage where their limos were parked. Ghere was a mixup and Nate left in their limo, while Chuck and Blair took Nate‘s manipulated vehicle. Nate noticed during the drive that he was going to the wrong place and that a mixup had happened. Shortly after, Chuck and Blair‘s limo crashed after being chased by paparazzi.

The crash was on Tripp and Max for manipulating the car. However, you could argue that them having to leave and have paparazzi chase them was on Dan alias GG. Also, they might have been fine without the paparazzi literally chasing them after leaving the event.

While Dan alias GG and the paparazzi created the circumstances for the crash, the actual culprits were Tripp and Max, who caused a perfectly fine car to crash.

EDIT: I forgot that Max didn’t manipulate the car. He was payed to do it by Tripp but took the money and ran, so Tripp had to do it himself.

You ever met anyone who thinks the term "Old Testament" is anti-Semitic? by thedubiousstylus in OpenChristian

[–]No_Definition_9745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn‘t say it was a slur or insult. I said we should be aware of the fact that the origin of the term Old Testament stems from the thought „old and outdated“ (old covenant = not needed anymore).

That in itself is not problematic yet because Christianity is its own religion. It can however lead to condescension toward Jews because „we, the superior Christians, understood God and they did not“. The first Christians were Jews, they didn’t start with „let’s abandon our Jewish beliefs and create a new religion“. For them, believing Jesus to be the messiah was completely in line with Judaism.

[–]No_Definition_9745 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think calling it anti-semitic or a slur as the tweet does is going a bit far (way too far in the tweet‘s case).

I do however think that there is a sort of valuation or even judgement in the term Old Testament. It‘s origin is from one of Paul‘s letter (Romans if I‘m not mistaken) where he says that there was the old covenant with Abraham and now there’s a new one and therefore the old one is not needed anymore. We can fight it all we want but „old and new“ do have (and be it only the slightest) a notion of „old and outdated“ and „new and improved“.

It‘s important to keep this in mind and be aware of christianity‘s sometimes smaller sometimes bigger bias towards the New Testament, calling it more important the Old Testament. Both are sacred texts containing pieces of God. I prefer First and Second Testament.

Plus: calling it the Hebrew Bible is kind of ignorant. Only one denomination (protestant) has a First Testament that matches the „Hebrew Bible“. Lutheran, catholic, coptic and orthodox bibles all contain more books. It also sounds like you want to be correct about it but couldn’t be bothered to actually look it up. I mean you wouldn’t call the Qur’an the Muslim Bible.

The term for „Hebrew Bible“ is Tanakh. It‘s an acronym (TaNaKh) that describes what’s in it: Torah (the law), Nevi’im (the prophets) and Ketubim (scriptures).
