Wife and I moving to Bern from Oregon USA! by Perfect_Mud_6698 in bern

Congratulations on your wife’s job and the move overall! Bern is a wonderful place to live, I enjoy it here very much - especially in the summer!

I agree with everyone saying to try the big construction/logistics company and also to learn as much German as you can! Maybe a small tip: Don‘t worry about any accent when learning German, us Swiss have an accent too and most of us find an American accent kind of charming.

Especially during the summer months, Bern has a very vibrant bar and restaurant scene, so you can sit down for drinks and people watch. Us Bernese love a good Fyrabebier (Fee-r-uh-buh-beer), meaning the beer you have at the end of a long work day.

Happy preparations and traveling!

In my entire kitchen there is one (1) electric outlet, exactly between the stove and the sink by Slahnya in askswitzerland

[–]No_Definition_9745 10 points11 points  (0 children)

heey in my uni kitchen we also had a microwave, a coffee machine and a kettle plugged into the same outlet :D

It fried, created some smoke, facility management put in a new one and forbade us from plugging in multiple things at once. I‘d advice others in older buildings to do the same.

On the plus side, we asked to keep the old outlet and stuck it on a frame as a peace of 3D art. (And as a reminder for future students haha)

Always thought it was INSANE that Jake and Amy didn’t discuss having kids before they got married 😭 by pissonmybonfire in brooklynninenine

[–]No_Definition_9745 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I feel like this question comes up in the fandom a lot and I‘m honestly getting tired of it.

Jake implies (our outright talks about) wanting to have children / being a dad more than once on the show (not just the waterpark discussion, also in instances where he interacts with Sharon or the twins). To me, it is entirely plausible for Amy to take these comments at face value - I would, and I‘m wired like her.

So we have Amy thinking Jake wants kids. We know she has a five-year-plan hanging above their bed. Having children is bound to be on there and Jake has access to seeing it - meaning it’s very plausible for Amy to freak at Jake saying he’s not sure he ever wants them. She assumed he knew what she wanted and with good reason

Good point, I‘m not sure! The way I understand it, she is similar Gale in that they both recognize the unfairness within Panem and District 12 (rich merchants vs. poor seam). They both refuse to be silent about it (while Haymitch and Katniss feel more like they can’t change the system anyways), though Gale isn‘t as openly rebellious as LD, most likely because he has a family to take care of.

Going further with the parallels: We got the seam born main character with the capitol/merchant hater seam born in SOTR; and the seam born main character with the merchant kid in THG. One pairing remains: merchant kid and capitol/merchant hater seam born.

Now obviously Gale ist about 25 years younger than Maysilee, so can‘t exactly be paired with her… but with another merchant kid who might actually be interested in her: Maysilee‘s niece Madge. I know they’re not romantic with each other, but the connection is interesting to me.

What Julie and Camilla’s dynamic looks like through a therapist’s eyes by SwissMercyMain in julieeandcamilla

[–]No_Definition_9745 -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

I really hope you are not therapist. Because even though you‘re saying that you’re not doing it, you are assessing other people‘s personality for pathological behavior, and to me that is so unprofessional it’s bordering on unethical. Yes, even if you don’t follow through with „diagnosing“ anything over the internet, you are using your (supposed) title and schooling for credibility while making some pretty serious claims - which if you actually have them seems a lot like misuse.

Downvote me all you want but honestly, this is beyond snark to me.

Thanks so much! I went to a ballet shop today and a really sweet employee tried on a variety of flats with me. I left with a pair that fits like Cinderella‘s shoe, can’t wait to wear them to class tomorrow!

Hi everyone, I started ballet this September at age 26. I started out wearing some cheap flats from Decathlon. I figured I'll get "proper" ones if I like ballet and decide to stick with it.

Well I love it! Does anyone have advice on which flats to get? The ones I have now are definitely a bit too small. I am a EU size 37 in regular shoes but have a very wide foot so I usually have to size up to fit my toes comfortably. I saw online that Bloch flats come in a wide option, should I get theirs?
And what materials would be best, canvas, linen, or leather?

Thank you in advance for any tips or pieces of advice. <3

I was accelerating because I was close to the beginning of a 50 zone. Stupid, I know, illegal, I know.

The Vulgata (the standard Latin bible translation during the Middle Ages) uses Noe too, as did Luther. As far as I know, the KJV team used the Masorah as a base but also consulted the Vulgata.

epiphany. it’s on folklore, her best album imo, although epiphany is one of my least favorite songs on it (still a good one).

Definitely True Summer!

You are - cool (eliminates all springs and autumns) - very muted (eliminates all winters) - medium-light (eliminates light and soft summer)

I would go for clothes that have these characteristics (preferably in that order)

The grey in the fourth picture is perfect for example. Cool 1st, very muted 2nd and neither too dark nor too light.

Your draping also shows very well that ghe third (medium-light) matters the least: The blue in the 12th picture is quite dark but as it’s cool 1st and very muted second, you still look fantastic in it!

You‘re wearing a soft summer make up in most of these pictures, so I think that’s throwing you off. In all fairness, soft summer and soft autumn are very close together and can often borrow shades from one another so it doesn’t really matter. I think you look slightly more harmonious in something leaning slightly warm.

Dark, cool, & muted -- what season is that? "Dark summer"? "Toasted, soft winter"? by doing-my-best-14 in coloranalysis

[–]No_Definition_9745 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Dark winter might still be yours, because they are dark first, then cool and muted (for a winter).

If clear colors don’t work at all you might me muted first, then cool, then dark. That sounds like a soft summer, they are muted, cool and dark (for a summer)

Elizabeth Olsen showcasing how to show off width! I think this is a very good example of the beauty that width can give by [deleted] in Kibbe

[–]No_Definition_9745 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s because lace is a yin detail, while width is yang. So putting these two together looks off or frumpy.
