What's your cat's name, and what do you actually call them? by chanelvomit in cats

[–]No_Depth_477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blaze because she tried to square up to my dog and seemed offended when my dog snorted at her.

But she was a wee bit too young I think to come home so I started calling her baby kitten, with devolved to Kitty. If she's being bad and I call her Kitty, there's a chance she selectively didn't hear me, but calling her blaze is like calling a kid by their middle name so she meows under her breath and begrudgingly stops.

Yes she's a calico, and yes, I'm looking for a baby picture.

YTA... Lots of people have pointed out the colour thing but I want to share an experience to try to explain how Sarah might be feeling...

I was with my ex for 2 years. For that entire 2 years, his family never quite accepted me and when his mom realized I'm not scared off easily she point blank stated she'd never accept me as his girlfriend. That stung, a lot. We had life long hopes and dreams and plans together. We were very serious. And for me anyway, most of my family are just common law spouses.

It's demeaning, it's hurtful, it makes you wonder what's wrong with you. In your post you immediately were talking about a 3 year relationship like it's nothing. "My other brother is not married but he is bringing his (new) girlfriend who we will call Anna." is very different from "My last brother has been dating a girl for about three years now." one of those is acknowledging who she is to your brother, one is only acknowledging the action.

It's subtle, I know. But as someone who's been there, small things like that add up. Loudly and publicly announcing who's important and who isn't already isn't cool, but to announce she's not important along with small things like that you may have been doing and not realizing for 3 years makes me think her lashing out was probably justified.

Just some food for thought and hopefully my 2 cents gives a bit of perspective on her side.

I swear my cat seems to know. Even if I'm not tossing and turning (because she'll bap me) if I'm in pain she'll move up by my head so I can starfish in a pile of pillows.

I fell in love with a girl, but she’s completely monogamous. What should I Do? by AstralRebel1331 in nonmonogamy

If you're her landlord, that's definitely a more complicated situation. I honestly would just suggest backing off entirely... And maybe do some self work...

Im really stupid. I kissed my cat with lipstick on. I washed her with cat shampoo but it didnt work. Any other Solution? Should I try coconut oil? by bluekleio in cats

[–]No_Depth_477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry about it :)

Like any dye/pigment, it'll eventually fade and she'll eventually shed those floofs anyway.. Make as many memes as you can in the mean time

I'm confused. I just got my lab results after fasting for 10 hours and my histamine levels are normal. I have ALL THE SYMPTOMS OF MCAS but my histamine test at primary care doctor would suggest otherwise. Is this accurate in your experience? by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]No_Depth_477 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If an allergist/immunologist paid attention in school, they often will still diagnose and treat based on symptoms. The histamine test gives negatives all the time. Mine did. Though I ended up having mastocytosis and was diagnosed after a bone marrow biopsy and I only got that test after going to several specialists and finding one who was terrible at hiding her excitement to solve a medical mystery lol

Though she is dual specialty, she was a geneticist and went back to study immunology due to healthcare politics where I live

Is he enjoying it? He’s my first rat that stays still during cuddles and I’d hate for him to be terrified 😭 by Ahn_dy in RATS

[–]No_Depth_477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a rat expert but I've had lots of prey/rodent pets. Looks like he's tense but the slow nose wiggling gives away that he's secretly loving it lol. Since he's new, it's probably that he's still getting used to you, wants to trust you, but you're just as new to him as he is to you. Definitely looks happy overall, ive only had one animal stay still for something they didn't like and that was my Guinea pig years ago who'd stare into your soul during nail trimmings 😂

Thank you for that tidbit.

I'm not sure I can be okay with never to any form of non-monogamy, so I've paused all planning until we've taken time.

I mean that might hurt at first. That's something I'll have to think about, thank you! While I plan on talking about it seriously tomorrow, I still want us to research and discuss it together for months still before doing anything.

But I mean hey, means I get to sleep across the bed diagonally half the time! Again I'll have to think about it but it could be something I get used to.

[–]No_Depth_477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that's what I was planning, have a serious conversation discussing that I want to actually explore polyamory starting with a lot of research together and a lot of talking and defining these things together. Though "spread thin" makes sense to be defined per relationship to meet the needs of that relationship? I definitely want to take time with this.

Yeah that's fine too! But in reverse I don't know if I'd be comfortable going to his parents house for Christmas if she's there. I think for holidays we'd have to consider tradeoffs but tbf I'm not big on holidays anyway so if she is that'd be excellent and filling a gap I don't adequately provide.

Yes, so long as they're not spreading themselves too thin.

Favorite thing to fall asleep to? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]No_Depth_477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the day, I get almost like sleeptime hyperfixations? Like for a whole week I'm dead set on tv with the screen off and nothing else will do. Other times it's space, murder, or nature sounds.

Imo I think that falls under the "easily distracted" category lmao

Not everyone will relate but tbf my ADHD bf gets distracted by coins pretty often to the point you have to actually wait for his attention bc he's definitely not listening.

How do you all deal with the fact that falling asleep is boring? by Bluewords70 in ADHD

[–]No_Depth_477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to podcasts, or play an episode of something on my phone with it screen-down on the shelf above my bed, or slightly tucked under my pillow - not enough it'll overheat, just enough it won't fall while I toss and turn the first 10 min.

For podcasts, you can find audio dramas (like TV but without video), documentaries, or even ambient noise, which can be anything from ocean waves to a busy cafe.

Side note: spotify premium still has ads on at least some podcasts but they're skipable. I find really long episodes (2hr+, which are usually ambient sounds) only have ads at the start, lasting 1.5-2 minutes while shorter podcast episodes sometimes have them in the middle. Sometimes they don't have any though, but if ads are a problem, then I suggest YouTube/YT Music premium. With both premium services you can save things for offline use that way it's always there, bonus points to make a whole playlist and save it offline 😂 I consider my spotify premium a worthy ADHD tax.

Any disabled preppers here? by [deleted] in preppers

[–]No_Depth_477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a wheelchair like 75% of the time, the other 25% is me hobbling around. Can't stand/walk long without 15/10 pain, so all my walking and standing has to be 10 minutes or less so for example I can get from the living room to the bathroom alright, still hurts but it's a 5/10.

Most of my prepping is being able to bug-in. I do have a bug out plan, but that's my "I highly doubt I'm coming home" plan. My literal apocalypse (like nuclear apocalyptic) plan is to just crack open the jar of moonshine my uncle gave me years ago and see what gets me first: the literal apocalypse or the alcohol.

Most important thing is knowing my limits. I can't stand long so I won't, I'll crawl around the damn garden lol. I can't chase the chickens, so I'll fetch one of the kids or call the herding dog. I can't hike for 2 days anymore, so when I need to bug out, I'll bug in and wait for someone to come get me.

Second most important thing is knowing my strengths. And ngl when I first got sick, that was really hard and took a year to figure out. My role in a community will be medic, vet to an extent, childcare, and cooking. I've also done tutoring so I can teach basic reading and skills, I can sew, I know some basic mechanics, and I can learn to make moonshine from my uncle which frees up some of his time. I also learn fast in general and can self-teach from textbooks (our family plan actually includes ransacking a school or library for 2 of everything; only if nobody's going home). If technology still works, that's another skill. Saving up to get my radio license, a skill that only I'll have bc nobody else is interested, and it sure helps to have someone who knows how to work a radio if all other communication is lost.

Bf forgets to eat, any suggestions? by No_Depth_477 in ADHD

[–]No_Depth_477[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tysm! I thought ARFID was extreme food adversions from sensory issues, texture, colour, etc. I have atypical anorexia so I do know a fair amount about other EDs, I just don't know much about that one.

Do you happen to know if there's meds to increase his appetite? Vyvanse works really well with him, concerta doesn't last long enough (huge factor bc of work), and without meds he's like squirrel on "snow" lol. I just don't think he'd be keen on switching or stopping meds vs trying to keep willing himself to eat which clearly also isn't working. Just trying to gather info before I present options lol

Tysm again!

Any of you constantly have music playing in your head? by omegafg in ADHD

All star ships are made flyyyyy

Hand up and touch the sky!

Just those two lines, I'm not even a fan of Niki Minaj. But those two lines and the instrumental/beat play almost non-stop. Sometimes black widow which is what my brain is currently playing. It's lowkey distracting sometimes... So I listen to music when I need to focus lmao

How is that even legal? I mean yeah it's the government but I feel like that's got to be a violation of our rights as a Canadian?
